I found this s/g in a box a few years ago when I was given my 147. It seemed almost to have a drag when I turned the key but it turned fast enough to start the tractor. I took it apart once and replaced the bear and bushing as well as the brushes, but still the same drag. I noticed the field coils were different from each other and decided to just replace them with new. So I'm posting this for any advice and tips,as I'm getting ready to put it back together.

Clean everything up (not the armature ) with kerosene. Then rinse in warm soapy water. Then blow dry. Take the armature and some 600 grit sandpaper and clean up those contact points (copper) where the brushes contact. Take a small screw driver or a metal hack saw blade and clean up between those copper contact points. Then spray it down with 10wd-40 electronic cleaner. I attached a picture of a cleaned armature.
