Started the 147 restoration

I bought a cub cadet 147 and a snowblower attachment in the fall. I have started the dissemble recently. I started with the snowblower as I only had room in my garage for that until I did some reorganization. ( us old guys never downsize). I am almost ready to reassemble the blower. Gearbox was stuck but it was only rust on the shaft keeping it from turning. I did have to replace the needle bearings on the chain sprocket shaft and the chain. I had to build a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel. Went as planed.I an just about to remove the charge pump as I believe the check valves are stuck. I was going to ask a how to question but I downloaded a manual and printed it off and I think I found the answer to my question. I love to here/ read the stories and see the pictures from everyone so I am also including some pictures. The blower pics are before and after.

I tried spraying it with penetrating fluid for a week. Cracked the plastic trying to pry it off so I took the time.

For future reference Digger’s procedure works. I took his recommendation and it worked.

I've got a steering wheel on my 107 that I've been working at for about 2 years! I've let it soak in kroil, pb blaster, etc. Pushed with my knees, made a hardwood puller bracket, etc. I'm pretty sure it's got loctite or JB weld holding it on. Fortunately the steering wheel on my 147 came off with the "expected" amount of fuss, and that's the tractor that actually needs steering work.

Ah! The 147 - you're going to really enjoy it; it's a tank. I added Kirk's super steering kit, magnetic oil plug, weights and a few other items. It is amazing what 14 horse power will do.
