Serial number lookup

I have an old 70's era CubCadet, no model number tags on the hood. I do have a serial number tag on rear of tractor, S/N is 20550038U389761 I have tried to find some kind of S/N lookup on internet, would anyone here know of one or be able to tell me what model number it is? It has a 10HP Kohler with a hydro transmission. Starter pulley is loose on crankshaft and I also found a couple of the tabs are broke off fiber disc for PTO clutch and need to find some parts.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

389761 would be early May, 1971 (388832 - 392877) I'm guessing it's a 105.

Frank, nope, that number falls into the 73- 1x6/7 series. Going by Myron Bound's "Kind Code" listing, the "0038" just before the "U" in the serial number indicates a "Kind Code" of a model 107. Also, here's a listing of what models fall into the various s/n ranges:

How is my serial number broken down, I can understand the "U" part, is it the numbers after the "U" that count? If so, what are the numbers before the "U" used for?

PS: I think you may have added an extra "5" in your Serial number. I think it is 2050038U389761. The 205 indicates it a Cub Cadet and the 0038 makes it a 107.

That sounds like a legit serial number. Is it stamped into a plate and preceded by "20500XXU" where the XX is two numbers such as 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 or 41?

Thank you rrschmitt for the link, that was just what I was looking for.
We had heavy wet snow last night and my old Cub had a hard time blowing the wet snow. My neighbor has a 2 year old Cub and blower and it went right through it.

If you look at the link that Digger posted you will see that 385058 shows up in two photos (same photo shown twice) It is actually a casting number.

In your first photo, look a bit farther forward near the front edge of the transmission.

If it isn't near the front of the transmission, remove the rear cover plate by removing these two bolts, it could be on the right hand side of the top of the rear.

I successfully removed the plate no apparent series of numbers. I did find the this see attached photo, (looking from seated forward on the left side).

Maybe this will help.
Imagine the tranny sitting on the rear cover, and the driveshaft sticking straight up. The driveshaft will be in the 12 o'clock position.
Now, here is a pic of where the serial number could be on the right side, up at the top of the tranny.

Now here is a pic if the tranny were in the tractor and sitting at the normal position.
Sitting on the tractor, it will be on the right side about even with the front edge of the rear tire.
