C. C. 2518-48 Model # 13A-208L100, Serial # 1L192G30002, manu. 1998. Follow directions for starting, engine starts, sounds normal. Approximately 20 to 30 seconds later, engine dies like the switch was turned off. turn switch off, then restart it does same thing repeatedly. have tried spraying start fluid while engine is quitting to avail (elect.). it appears that permissive switches are working properly.

I see you tried to keep it alive as it stalls using Starter fluid. Yes, that would help to conclude it is electrical, Humor me....I had this issue with another lawn mower. it ended up being the ethanol gas distorted the Rubber Needle valve seat in the carburetor. It restricted the gas flow to the Carburetor Bowl Just enough that the engine would run out of gas but by the time you went to restart, it filled the bowl enough to do the same thing again. That's why I bought this 'like new' mower for VERY cheap. $6 later and it runs great

O.J., I had the same problems with two walkbehind mowers and a swollen needle valve seat. BUT, I dont know if any Cubs have rubber valve seats.
