Bob, have you looked at the Parts Lookup? You can access exploded view parts drawings. Just click on the link above and enter in 2072 as the model. Then a folder called "Illustrated Parts Lists" should appear on the right side of the screen with the various parts diagrams.

Bob, the 2072 would be a MTD built GARDEN TRACTOR, not a lawn tractor so yes you did post your query in the wrong forum area. We try to gently guide people into the proper forum area so that they get better replies to their queries. My parents used to own a 2072 but we never had any reason to take the steering system apart.

I recently bought a late ‘80’s Cub 2072 Super Garden Tractor, with power steering. The old guy I bought it from said it got stuck in a ditch and they pulled it partially with strap on the steering wheel. The steering wheel came off ( not the wheel from the input shaft ) but the whole wheel and input shaft. It has an end that is like a thick slotted screwdriver, no threads or clips etc. It doesn’t appear broke but not sure how it goes back in

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Bob

Bob, Charlie, the owner of this forum, moved the posts into the proper forum just to clean stuff up. More people should see your query here. In any case there are fewer guys on here that have the newer CCC/MTD built Cubs so it may take a bit longer for a response. Wish I could be more helpful.

Found the answer by trial an error. If anyone wants to know there is a snap ring in the end of the PS unit. The snap ring popped off on mine

Bob, good to hear that you figured it out! Oh yeah, and thanks for letting us know.
