Lew - I looked again and it sure looks to me like it's the wrong direction.

Dustin - we need to know which direction it's going.

If you stand in front of the tractor you should see the basket pulley and S/G turning Counter Clock Wise (CCW).

I have no spark. Filed points, changed plug, used a different plug wire, too. Spinning correctly, though!

That is NOT a S/G tractor, but it is spinning the right direction.

I know he has confirmed it is turning the correct direction.

Watching the video, you can see a mark (probably the label on the belt) you can see it come "up" from the basket pulley, go over the top of the S/G pulley before it dissapear "under" the pulley. Which would be correct. The S/G on a IH Cub Cadet, will "pull" the belt from the top of the basket pulley, and "return it to the bottom.

Dad's 149 has a S/G belt with a very prominent brand mark on it (well it was 30+ years ago) and I remember watching that mark come over the top of the pulley and around the pulley and then dissapear. Just one of those thing that stuck with me. It would come across the top, from the basket to the S/G....

I believe he may have been showing his Quietline, as it was suggested, if he has another IHCC to confirm they both are turning the same way.... that he had compared them.....

simple way.....
Check for spark with a test light on the negative terminal while cranking.
If it blinks, you will have spark assuming the plug wire is good and the plug is installed.

Doh! Correct! Let me post the 108 trying now.

12 volts at the coil, but no spark. Tried two plug wires.
Are you certain there is no spark at the plug??

Remove the spark wire from the plug. Wet your finger and hold the wire connector. Turn and hold key in starting position for a few seconds.
Did you get a slight tingling?

Harry your a mean Sunogun. Have you checked the points yet? are they opening and closing? They do break at the plastic piece that holds the points spring. If okay , I would run a wire directy from the battery to the coil and try starting then. **CAUTION** do not leave the wire on there, it is for testing purposes. Remove if nothing happens then on to the next step.

I think you need to crank it more than 1 to 2 seconds at a time. Ipalma has a point . also check that the poits spring isn't grounded out some times they get crooked. Another way to test the coil is to turn the engine until the points are open with the power on and observe the spark while shorting the points to the block with a screw driver. that will tell if your points are still dirty.

The points are opening and closing, but I don't see a spark even after filing them. Have 11.5 volts to solenoid and the coil.
Silly question................... Which terminal on the coil is the condenser connected to?
