At the 200 setting I get 4.5 from + to - posts, nothing from + to center, or either post to case

All other settings show nothing at any tests pionts
My guess the coil is shot, found an old one in the shed, same results.

An easy test is to disconnect the point wire from the negative side of the coil. turn on the key. use a jumper wire or screwdriver to intermittently ground the negative coil terminal -you should get spark out of the coil (you are just acting like the points -if you get spark the coil is OK.

Old coil is out of tractor now.
New coil installed with new condenser and plug.
Will save old coil for a while till I can bench test it, if that's possible.

And does it run now??? Some of us are on the edge of our seats.

Did you check to see if plug wire is snug in the coil? My 1282 plug wire likes to dance out of place from time to time.

Thank you. I see it now. I was thrown because we were still offering help here.

I will rest easier now.
