I have a quick question to the group. What does the ID number 501 U-1111 Stand for? The label is on the mower deck.

501 would be the series of the Mower Deck. The U was the country of build, US (these were built in Louisville KY), and 1111 was the generic serial number for IH attachments that did not have a specific serial number. Early Cub Cadets in that family used 42 and 48" mowers and the later models used 44 and 50" decks which had all the same size blades and better airflow. Great to see a survivor out there that is still in the family!

Thank you!
My Dad bought it new in April of 1974. He as also purchased the front plow. I can still remember when I was 12 and my Dad let me take over the mowing and snow plowing. I have a lot of great memories on that Cub. I’m looking forward to restoring it.
