Mounting a sears plow on a cub

I am hoping for some detailed help, I am not good at engineering project design..

I was wondering how much it would take to mount this on a wide frame cub 169.

if I can't it will retire to flower garden eye candy

Jeff you could checkout Xtreme Motorworks above. Aaron has 3 options to get you goin'. Brinly style plow yoke # CC-20-oo7, Implement yoke # CC-20-002, Or go Hole Hog and get Cat.0 3 point # CC-03-013 that would hookup direct to your plow.

Jeff, I'll trade you a Brinley for that Sears plow. I need it for a project.

Jeff if you use a sears 3 point lift it will work fine. If you decide to change to a one point it will be a lot of work. The hitch and coulter is welded to the plow beam. The beam is about a foot shorter than a brinly. I use mine on the 100 with the sears cat. O lift. That also doesn't interfere with using a front or belly attachment when the plow is on the tractor.I am having trouble with picture sizeing so I can't send a picture.

Now can you guys educate me a little on plowing, What is better 10 or 12 inch plow? I will mostly use it on my 2 acre plot that has been bean/corn/hay its whole life

JEFF - whether a 10" or 12" is better is hard to say. Most Brinly sleeve hitch plows are 10" and they do fine. There's a few 12" sleeve hitch plows. A CC with enough weight and lug tires or chains should pull either one just fine.

I'd check the FAQ's for plow setup info, or do a search, Steve B. has it down to a fine science.
Park whatever Cubbie you want to plow with on two 4X6 wood blocks under the left side tires and adjust the plow so the point of the plow share touches the ground and the back of the landside is a bit off the ground by whatever amount Steve suggests. Then go out and plow.

Hydro or GD both plow fine, 10 HP is plenty, even seen 7 & 8 HP CC's do a fine job plowing. I used to fall plow my Dad & Sister-in-law's gardens with the 72 when it had the K181 and GY 6-12 turf tires without chains on it. Worked well till I'd hit a rotten tomato with a rear tire then it'd spin out.

The moldboard should be rust free so it can eventually shine up and scour. A 10" plow will plow to 5-6 inches deep, a 12" to 7-8 inches deep but deeper than that and they pull really hard, plus you run out of ground clearance under the rearend of a CC, they'll "high Center" under the rearend.

Guys who plow on other forums think they need 200# of front weight to plow, but frankly, I find NO extra frt weight works best. Running the frt end light allows better weight transfer from the frt end to the back wheels. And 50 to 75# of weight on the rear wheels is enough, 50# on the furrow wheel, 75# on the land wheel.

If your ground you want to plow is grown up in weeds, grass, or other plants, you may want to mow it first, Brinlys tend to plug up in really tall trash conditions. I could plow in 2nd gear with the 72/K241 just about anywhere, and it has the fast 19T 2nd.

Thats probably a good move trading for a Brinly.
If you find a 12" thats a nice one to keep because they are more scarce.
I usually pull a 12" but I keep my 10" around for tough plowing conditions.
Best advice....get the plow and get to a plow day.

Jeff hope this is what you need. You will need to lower the top link at the plow about 2.5 inches so it will stay up when not plowing.

This is the only tractor I use the cat.0 attachments on. I have tiller ,plow ,cultivator. I like the Brinly better.

Yesterday I met fellow members Chris E. and Mike M. We did some talking and horse trading and in the end I got this and plan to hook her up soon.
My wife and I are discussing turning over my back lot that is 300' by 360'.
