Hello everyone,
I was given a Cub Cadet 128 with a Kholer 301A engine, to try to fix up. It started, needs tuned up, but when I jumped on to feel it run I ran into a problem. The tractor starts to lack power in 2nd gear. It will only run in third on flat ground, absolutely no hills.

I can figure out most things with the use of a service manual and videos, but don’t know anything about transmissions or the like.

Welcome Donnie!
David is right. Do your studying, and in no time you will have that 128 running good again.
Only thing I could add is, just be patient. 👍

Does the engine lack power, or is the tractor's forward speed slow down with no change in engine speed?
