Prattico. I have a muscle car in my Garage I have the same fears of Mice! I put Fabric softener sheets in my shed and garage and attic . September best time to put out ! The mice come in and are ready to make “Bed” When they go to fluff up sheets and cannot get the Deadly chemical off their mitts! So they Flee . Don’t come back. And peanut butter on the wooden snap traps

Yeah, but THEY love mice! We live in a rural village, only ever had mice trouble one year we didn't have cats. Fair number of squirrels around, too. One time one of the previous years' kittens stole the squirrel that momma cat brought for the new kittens, ten minutes later she was back with another. A specialist!! We have a collection of 8 or 9 squirrel tails! They seem to stay clear.

I agree, but then you get attached to them right before a coyote comes along and gets the cat. That's why our cat stays inside.

A 5 gallon bucket filled with a gallon or two of antifreeze with a “diving board” does the trick too

Please be careful as antifreeze is attractive to dogs and it will kill them. Many have been killed when a pan or puddle of ethylene glycol has been left after an antifreeze leak or change.

Yeah - When cleaning out my Dad's shop, found a 2qt container with AF. Counted 17 pickled mice. Drill hole on the side for a PVC pipe ramp up to the diving board and put a lid on the bucket. Not my idea - I read someone did it 'Farm Show' mag.

Those pack rat “mice “ are the worst! I use to keep my Dog food in the garage. Those pack rats filled my wife’s Ford Explorer exhaust pipe for weeks did not know. One day my wife was out shopping the Dog food caught on fire going up the highway! Not good. And that smell though

I had the same thing with dog food in the tailpipe of my truck, it all came flying out as soon as I started the engine and sprayed it all over the garage. Also had them fill muffler on snowmobile with corn, it packed so tight it would not stay running for long, and stink when it started to burn inside! I keep fresh baited traps in every building now.

worst i had to repair was a 6 day old vw passat , owner had a bird feeder close to the driveway, mice got into and under the timing belt cover, when the owner cranked up the motor, the mice got pulled into the belt, snapped it throwing 16 valves into the pistons, repair new long block call the owner "owner it's warranty right the car is brand new ? " me the SM NO call your insurance company, it was caused by mice do you feed the birds? owner yes. $6.000 insurance tells her loose the bird feeders. "
other wise i right now have my 78 1250 apart to remove the mice from inside the covers of a K301 , must have been 4 generations of them in there, esp since the machine has not run in 11 years, i'm hating to see what's in the other 4
i've tried almost everything, the little beast seem not to be bothered ,

thanks for the reminder, this one took me 2 days to clean up and repair the damage , storing the down side is where the machines were stored under a canvas tent, 300 feet from power, heck they even got into and under the gas tank on a snow blower

Bit-O-Honey works well for trap bait. Chew up a small wad and bait the trap. The stuff hardens up like concrete. As Mr. Mouse wrestles at it, BANG. Then, open trap, remove Mr. Mouse and reset. One baiting can capture a number of critters.

My hardware store sells that candy in the same aisle as mouse traps, etc.

An interesting and gross observation-I’ve seen where Mr. Mouse’s buddies will eat down through the top of Mr. Mouse’s head to get to the candy trapped under him. Nice friends.

thanks for the info on using candy, mice and chipmunks are big problems for me, the chippies come up on my deck and tease my 2 great pyrenees mixes to heck and back again but are no match for the rat snap traps under the deck

Sounds like an ok idea, except for having to buy 2 gallons of antifreeze! $$$$$$
