IH Cub Cadet White/Yellow Spray Paint

Does anybody have any preference or recommendations on rattle can paint that matches (pretty closely) the original CC scheme?

Some googling led me to Rustoleum 2x Magnolia for the Yellow, and Rustoleum Canvas White for the White/Almond.

I have yet to test it on some scrap metal and test parts, but I am curious if others have experience (good or bad) with other spray brand brands/colors.

I have seen, on another board, Rustoleum Magnolia and CC brand yellow as touchup on two different framerails of the same tractor, and I could not tell them apart from each other or the original paint. I have seen a couple of tractors painted with the transport yellow, and had a can of it once, and it is not particularly close.

For IH935 white, Rustoleum Almond is VERY close. I have painted a lot of mower decks and wheels with it. Get the Rustoleum professional (or industrial or whatever they call it) if you can...it's better stuff. Or better yet, swing by a nearby IH dealership and get a couple cans of the real thing. It is not much more expensive than Rustoleum.

I have not had as good of luck with other various brands of spray paint, from a color matching or quality perspective. You pretty much get what you pay for when it comes to paint.

I had not thought about checking an IH dealer, looks like the closest one can get Cub Cadet White and Yellow! I will probably use up the Rustoleum I picked up first, but good to know I can get the real deal.

I used Rustoleum 'Canvas White' for the Original I just finished. I tried the Almond but it was too tan or brown. It took over 3 months to get to paint and it was pretty handy not to have a lot of clean up every time I painted something.

I am thinking TSC has CC yellow, I think in Rustoleum brand. Kinda pricey though.

I have been using Desert Sunset, At least I think it was called Desert Sunset for touch up. It doesn't cover over primer very well.

An original would have been 901 white and not 935, so any of the beige tint whites would not be correct. 901 white has more of a greenish tint, and the only way to get it is to have some mixed.

Spray cans of generic brands that are "CC yellow" are the later yellow used on the 2000 series and newer starting in the late 1990s, and is more orange than the shade of yellow used prior to that, and does not look right on an older machine, either.

And FWIW, yellow of any brand covers like crap. Yellow paint is usually colored with dye instead of pigment.

"Federal Yellow" is the correct yellow for IH built Cub Cadets.

Here's a spray out from rattle cans I did while I was painting my 149/DanCo loader resto. I hope the differences are apparent on your screen. All were from rattle cans as labeled. The center being from an IH dealer and it is really close if not exactly to the 935 that I used on the DanCo, wheels, hood, grill housing and weight box of the 149. Wish now I had also added a panel from the 935 canned paint.

Wish I had done one similar for the different yellows.

Yes, federal yellow is the correct name, I stand corrected but I could not tell much difference at all between the CNH Federal yellow and the rattle can transport yellow.

I've used Rustoleum in the past, and didn't like it. I ordered Valspar implement paint from Amazon in quart cans, and found I like it much better. I think you can get same paint in spray cans. If you're ordering quart or gallon cans you can also get a hardener additive. # 4432-15 International White, and # 4432-07 Transport Yellow. The colors seemed a very good match to the colors on my 149.

Bad news from Rust-Oleum:
"Unfortunately Rust-Oleum Automotive Enamel Gloss Extreme Yellow (252461) was discontinued in November 2018 and is no longer available."

Defiantly “NOT” a perfect match, but pretty darn close,,,

Oh just working on one of momma’s honey do list items,,,
Wanted a garden gate for Yard / Woods landscape property divider, and looked at all the thin tubing crap they had at all the big box stores, selling as “Garden Gates” and decided hell with it,,, we’ll just make one!!!!

Schedule 80 Pipe, Solid Cold Roll Bar, and Square stock will be there a lot longer than any store bought tubing,,,!!!..??’’.,,?’!!

Was Really wet back there before spring,,, the ram would have definitely sank getting stone, concrete, and everything else needed to install gate and gate post,,,

The big daddy 149 plowed rite through and had no problem hauling bags of concrete and stone out to the back 40,,,

Thank You Sir,,, Crescent Moon w/ 5point Star was torch cut from 1/4” carbon plate,, one piece of 1/2” rnd stk supports it inside the 2”x1/4” Flat bar Box which is welded into the gate support bars,,,
I was Taking some time off work from a long Overtime Job and it was nice to be able to fool around in garage on “my own time” for a change,,
