As I was cutting my grass using my 147 cub cadet an old timer pulls into my driveway and says, “I have a 1974 cub cadet that looks just like that”. I said, “Cool”. The old timer says, “ i got to many projects going on, and I want to sell it.” I said, “how much?” He says, “300, it comes with a plow and two mower decks. Which are rusted.” I said, “I’ll think about it” The old timer asked, “You got a trailer?” I replied, “No”. He said, “I’ll come back later with it so you can hear it run.” I said, “Okay”.

I got my first wide frame cub cadet:

WOW! What a score for $300. I would tell the wife it's an investment as it's worth way more than $300 once you get it all cleaned up and looking good. The decks and the plow might take a little effort to sort out and repaint.
I’m probably going to part out the mower decks. I’ll keep the plow and use this tractor for snow removal. My boy loves it, so it will be his to use.

That guy must have eye problems!!
That Cub looks nothing like a 147!!
Good on you man!!
Hope you didn't hurt your wrist getting your wallet out of your pocket in a hurry!!LOL!!

does that seat have the retractable footrest feature in addition to the recliner? fancy!

The old man said he paid 200 dollars for the seat alone. Its super comfortable for sure.

Great purchase! If wife is pissed, just tell her that it will be "her" tractor after you get it fixed.

I'm interested in a pair of belt guards when you decide to start parting out the decks.
lol! She is afraid of these tractors. But, think they are cool!

For the belt guards, I’ll send you a PM.

The button on the dash is something a PO installed. You'll probably have to follow the wires to see what it is hooked to.
I believe the 149 I owned had a 12v socket in that spot.

PS: The windbreaker I sent you a while back was made to fit a wide frame like that one (y)

You got a real bargain in that deal! I have a 149 that I've owned for 30 yrs, used like a workhorse quite often. General maintenance the entire time and it still runs great!
