I just acquired a 982 and need to learn the age. The serial number is as follows;

I have the chart showing the ages of IH cubs but it runs out about the time this tractor was made. If someone has a chart of the 82 series I could download that would be great.

I've been a yellow and white guy up until now so bear with me. I have a lot of manuals to review.

TractorData.com has you between 1982 and 1985.

I bet Roland Bedell knows. I just found a post of his on another site that put #711802 as a 1982.

This just puts me further and further into "MTD land".

Ease up if you can! I need a good investment/tractor here.

CCC Land. Whatever. You've got a prize, there. How about some more pics in whichever thread. That IH badge on the front is interesting.

Besides, I'm bored. Can't do a thing CC related until tomorrow afternoon (besides play on Sis's computer).

I agree Frank that it's a nice tractor. I'm not well versed in the red department and this is all new to me. I'm looking forward to learning about all there is to know but it's going to take time. I'm really looking forward to seeing it work.

I'll post more pics after it gets a badly needed bath. I may need to use a putty knife on the side panels. It will clean up nicely though I'm sure.

Wayne, your thread title cracked me up!

I'm surprised Charlie didn't hint that you should have posted this in the CCC and MTD forum area.

Charlie, I recognize that document.

Charlie, yep, I recognize that one too but I didn't scan that one.

I believe it may have come from Rich Patton but I'm not certain.

Kraig-

You're exactly right that I should have posted it in the proper area but it did follow me home.

I'm assuming this unit was built sometime in '83 making it 30 years old this year.

Thanks Charlie for the well laid out list of dates. I'll use the proper thread in the future too. The "International" on the hood threw me as well but I understand CCC used that for a while.

I hope to get it running today but it's going to be 57* in my shop (outside) today...chilly but not too cold.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe between the 1982 sell-off of Cub Cadet and the 1985 sell-off of the IH Ag division to Tenneco that CCC produced Red 82 series that were sold at the IH Ag dealers, with all the IH badging, except the Serial Number plate that was a CCC plate, and yellow and white 82 series that were sold through the Cub Cadet only dealers, these had just the Cub Cadet on the decals, and the CCC logo in the grill and on the fender pan.

Wayne: Try 1984. You can celebrate her 30th NEXT year.

This comes from the Debut Issue of Cadet Connection which I just happened to get in the mail yesterday.

Thanks Frank...that really helps. I was off a year in my guessing.

Does this mean the rear end is aluminum? It sure appears to be cast (but that don't mean squat).
