i have a 1969 125 that i am working on the hydrostatic on. I took the back cover off and surprise surprise, the oil was the consistency of grape jelly. What hydraulic oil weight can i use to replace it and what is the best way to clean out the system? thanks in advance!

Hy-Tran if plan on keeping for while.
 
As Charlie mentioned, HyTran is your best choice for our old IH Hydro transmissions. It suspends moisture to protect your hydrostatic pump/motor components. That's the jelly you saw when you removed the rear cover. Your local CaseIH dealer can fix you up with HyTran. You will need 7quarts. Buy two gallons and you will be all set. Also buy two new hydro filters to replace old one, and then replace new one again next year or after 10 hrs of operation. Be sure to wipe out all the jello/jelly accumulation inside the transmission.
