Any proven recommendations on how to bring back the "new look" paint shine on the hood and side panels of my model 1863? The plastic is in excellent condition, I don't want to have to repaint it yet.... THANKS in advance

Go to the auto parts store and get some paint polish or paint cleaner.
One of those products will remove the old paint layer and get it ready for
wax.

Yes, 3M works well.. I would use that and then go over it with Meguairs cleaner and wax as it contains a glaze that fill the ultrafine scratches..
