Larry - if you had the latches on your 149 it would keep the hood tight and I'm almost certain it would stop the rattle at the front you're experiencing. If I don't latch the latches on my 169 my hood rattles all over the place, even the headlight panel - I think mostly because of the K341 vibrations.
