I finally retired and decided to get me a Cub project (not my 1st). Got a fairly rough 147 and as soon as I'm done with other projects I'll get started on it! I've previously owned a 71 (my 1st), 124, and a 782. The 71 served me well, got painted / sold and traded up to the 124 made a new mower deck from 1/8 diamond plate. The 782 I inherited and used till we moved to KY 25 years ago, unfortunately our acres were too rough on it and it got barned. 5 years ago I fixed it up and painted then gave it to my son. I'm excited to read all the things going on here and hope I can help some folks!

Welcome Will!

I grew up on a 124 and have a 782 now.
The 147 is a fine machine! Keep us updated with lots of photos and progress reports on your project.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I went with the 147 because my Father in law had one and loved it! except for that pesky electric lift, but hey...I like challenges.

Welcome, Will. Can you add pics of your 147?

It's buried in the shed, but I have this one when I brought it home. I'll get more when I start working on it. The plan is to get it running good and use for awhile before getting into the overhaul. Give an idea of what I am working with.

It does, but alot of things aren't right. Just a little time and patience and they will be right again. It will help that I have a donor cub also!

Thanks. Please update us when you start working on it. Does it need an overhaul?

I would say probably...seems to run good, but I think I'll open it up and have a look. Brakes don't work, etc. Just needs a good look over then repaired, kinda of a longer term project 😀

Well, it's pretty nice to have it in perfect condition and repainted, right?
