I was tired of dealing with the front hanger on my GT1554. I only use the highest setting for mowing, so adjustment is not a concern.

A trip to Rural King for hardware, and a few minutes with a drill and some wrenches, and all is well.

I removed the frame bolt at the top, and drilled the hole to 1/2". Used a 1/2" x 2" bolt, three washers, and two nuts.

On the deck I removed the front roller. (Won't need it in my yard.) Drilled the hole out to 5/8", and used a 5/8" x 3" bolt with three washers and two nuts.

The turnbuckle was for a gate latch, and came from the store with a hook on one end. I replaced the hook with an eyebolt.

Left side is the same as the right side.

To make deck removal/installation easier I'm going to cut the head off of the lower bolt, drill a hole thru it, and use a hitchpin clip/hairpin to retain the lower eye.
