Thought it would be a great idea to share some ideas in one thread about tricks and tips for anything and everything that makes life simpler...
Yesterday I fried burgers in my Rival deep dish electric skillet. Since it was going on 9:30-10:00 last night, I put the lid on it and left it for today. Being shtuffs was stuck on it, I was not looking forward to cleaning it up until I thought of a camping trick I use to clean cast iron skillets.
I put about an inch of water in it, turned it to 200⁰ and got the water boiling. Used a plastic spatula to easily scrape off the shtuffs and then dumped it out. Wiped it out with a paper towel and it's like I hadn't even cooked on it. Little soapy water and it's done...piece of cake.
Another little trick is putting a scented candle on a trivet on the woodstove along with a pot of water to have the house smelling good. Instead of lighting and burning the candle, with it on the stove it lasts all winter long.
I'd be interested to hear any thoughts and ideas...no matter how simple, sometimes those are the ones that elude us most
