Exhaust recommendations

So I'm in the middle of doing various repairs/maintenance on my 1450. It came with one of those pepper can exhausts. I have an OEM exhaust to put back on it but after finally getting the old exhaust and piping off, I realized the tin work and exhaust brackets along with the bolt-on points are pretty mangled and "macgyvered". It's evident that it would take quite a bit of work to get it all back to original. I was thinking about just replacing it with a supported stack instead since I could easily build it with some pipe from the hardware store. But wanted to see if anyone here had any suggestions. My wife uses the tractor every now and then and really hates how loud the pepper can exhaust is so I definitely don't want to put another one back on.

She will hate it more with a stack blowing back face not to mention the noise

i once thought of a stack, then thought better of it since exhaust would blow at my face. as for the noise, i’ve considered adapting a noise-suppressing muffler made for an ATV. haven’t gotten around to it, still have an OEM biscuit “muffler” on my 100.

as for your tin work, a piece of sheet aluminum from the hardware store is inexpensive, easy to cut/shape/work/attach, and (perhaps?) rigid enough to hold your proper exhaust.

i used this trick under the front end of my daughter’s Corolla, whose PO had mashed it on some parking barriers and cracked the under-fascia plastic. now it is sturdy as new and doesn’t show unless it is on a lift.
