My 1863 mower clutch engages fine when started. One half hour into mowing if one shuts off the switch and minutes later want to restart the mower it acts like it isn't getting the power. New battery tests out good. Switch seems to be operating correctly. Engine starts first too turns. Can't find anything obvious.

Try taking wire plug of switch. Spray with WD40. put back on & off a few times. Get a good connection again. If not try the do same at seat safety switch . Then at connection at PTO.

Might be time to get a new clutch if the air gap is adjusted properly.

Too much air gap , the hotter the clutch gets the weaker the magnetism.
