Tractor Wanted Cub Cadet wanted 0-3K$

Follower of Jesus, Husband, Father, Just retired from the Army, enjoy hunting, trapping, fishing, and just about all things mechanical. The Lord has just blessed us with the opportunity to raise our young kids on and be stewards of a beautiful 15 acre mostly wooded property roughly 50 min SW of Nashville. And looking for a Cub Cadet to put into service to maintain said property.

I've been looking around at everything from old Jacobsen GTs (my dad still has the one I grew up driving though she now only does snow plow duty and leaks hydraulic fluid like a sieve), to Case 448s, to Snapper/massey ferguson 1650s, farm alls, simples... but I keep coming back to the Cub Cadets... I think a 125 might be about right but a 14 or 16 horse could be better for my purposes...

Property has about a acre to mow around the house, a 3 acre 65-75yd wide strip of overgrown brushy field that needs reclaimed for food plot purposes, 300yd gravel driveway to maintain, 11 acres of woods to maintain, logs to drag (mostly downhill), fire pits and campsites to prepare, backstops for shooting ranges to build... She will have her work cut out for her ohh and did I mention this is mtn ground with 2 streams and multiple draws... so some steep areas, some wet areas, some steep and wet areas. Gonna have to get a winch for the front of her she gonna be a Mtn Tractor working girl!!!

Needless to say looking for a Cub Cadet of the 125 to the 169 variety in working or very near to working order with some attachments. Not looking for perfect.
In a perfect world attachments would be a 3 pt hitch, mower, brush hog, rear grader, trailer and the infamous near non existent sickle... hey a guy can pray/dream right? Definitely not expecting all that at once but if the good Lord so provides im not gonna say no! Looking to spend anywhere from 300$ to 3000$

So Hello and I'm here to find a Cub Cadet! Lord may I find one for a reasonable price before I get tempted pulled astray and buy something green!

You shouldn't have a problem finding what you need for that $. Just be patient and find the best machine you can. (unless something cheap comes up that decent ) lol.

If I were you, I'd be in the market for a Super.
For what you are expecting to do, a 125 would really be taxed to the limit I'm afraid.

For what you are asking from a machine, a Super with a 60" Haban deck will be a better choice.

I'd lean toward a super also. I'm partial to the last generation, 2084. 2284 also referred to as cyclops.
They are taller heavier and can run a 60" deck easily. I'm partial to the Cyclops because they were powered with Kohler Command engines that in my opinion are more trouble free than the Magnum counterparts. There were also Kawasaki gas and Diesel in that mix. In a truly ideal world you might find a compact tractor with a front end loader for that amount, anything is possible if one can afford to be really patient. Here's a 600 hour compact tractor that would be really versatile. I wasn't aware Kawasaki supplied engines in the Cyclops. I have seen the D640 3cyl Kubota diesel and DG600 3cyl Kubota gas in the Cyclops Supers

I have to agree on finding a Super garden tractor. A 125 is a capable garden tractor, but would struggle with some things you want to do.
I'd suggest a FARMALL H or M preferably with a loader for some of the heavier jobs, "bush-hogging" is best left to a BIG tractor. Some H&M's will have aftermarket cat 1 or 2 3-point hitches but I'd find a trailing bush hog, WE had a Brillion 6 ft that was fairly trouble-free till Dad hooked it to the 4010 with 100 hp. He had swapped in Grade 8 shear bolts in place of the terribly weak grade Point 1 shear bolts he bought Me. And the first thing Dad broke was the shaft coming out the bottom of the gearbox the blades bolted to. 6 mph thru 3 ft high grass with 100 hp that shaft was the obvious and most expensive weakest link.

I saw a Super in Mansfield Ohio$1400 for a 2284 with 50" deck 700 hours.

I have to agree on finding a Super garden tractor. A 125 is a capable garden tractor, but would struggle with some things you want to do.

I've owned 3 60" Haban decks. the only repair I ever did was caster replacement. In my mind a Haban matched up to a Super is unbeatable. Is there a good source today for casters for the Haban. There's a 2284 on CL Mansfielf for $1300, 700 hours but a 54" deck.

FYI - I had an 1872 with the Mag 18 and the 60" monster Haban deck. Loved that tractor, especially the power steering and the smooth fairly quiet power of the 18. Only issue I discovered was when I bought the tractor I didn't realize the PO had set up the hydraulics to have downward pressure. When you lowered the deck with the hydro lift you could actually drive the deck into the ground and lift the tractor. I did this a few times and thought this was really strange AND then I also noticed when I did this the frame on the side of the tractor where that adjusting cam is for setting deck height, the frame would flex right there from the pressure. What's a guy to do???? I removed that pin in the hydro lift that provides the down pressure.
Boy I loved that tractor. I would'a kept it if I could'a found some type of snow blade or thrower for it. This was back in the early '90s prior to the internet and searching was really difficult.
