The tractor has been in the family since it purchased new. Hydrostatic drive, 10 horsepower Kohler.
I still cut my lawn with it each week.

I'm moving so will need to find it another home.

Does anyone have an idea of a fair price?

Donald, something does not add up. The 106 was made between August 1969 and August 1971. Also the 106 is a gear drive not a hydrostatic drive. The first hydrostatic drive Cub Cadet was the 123 which wasn't introduced until 1966. If your tractor has decals that state 106 perhaps the hood was changed out at some point. If you can post some photos we can help you identify what your tractor actually is. Also if you could post the state your in, people will have a better idea of where you are located.

In another thread he states that it's a 105, which lines up with the hydrostatic but still doesn't match the date. The 105 was produced from 1967-1969. In 1964 you could get a 70 or a 100, and I think that's it.

Again, pictures help a lot!

My mistake, I had a typo. Model is 105.
I thought my Dad bought it when I was a jr. In high school in 64, sometime during the late 60s sounds right.
I did a engine rebuild late 80s. Engine runs well now but getting a little blow by. No oil usage.

That's only the engine serial #, the serial # for the tractor itself should be on a little tag the back of the rear axle near the left carrier. Clean that tag and post a picture, and we can find the actual model year. Again, the 105 was produced from 1967-1969 so it couldn't be 1964.

Donald, As JP mentioned in the post above, the 105 was built from November 1967 until August of 1969. Where are you located?

Here's a photo showing where the serial number plate is located on a 105:

Hi, .my family farmed in.Mi when the Cub Cadet was purchased. Employment took me to CA about 20 years ago. We have about a half acre lot with a good size lawn so I have put the cub to good work.
I'm retired now and selling home so will not likely need it anymore.
I'll post the serial number with next post.
Thanks all.

Now that you have helped me establish the manufacturer build date of 1969 does anyone have an opinion of what a fair price might be for the tractor and 42" mower?
I have a neighbor who might be interested.
Thanks
