Greetings! I am having trouble getting my PTO clutch off. It seems as if there is something else holding it on, beside the center bolt? I will try to attach a pic. I am trying to install a transmission belt…….. Or if anyone has a way to do it, without removing the clutch let me know. Is this middle square piece part of the clutch, or is that what’s keeping it from coming off???
Thanks

That’s part of the clutch. It should just slide off. Might be some corrosion holding it. The shaft is keyed. Maybe some light taps against the side of the pulley will knock it loose.

Has to come off to allow the shive to come down to access the belt. Try Kroil or PB Blaster sprayed on the shaft just below the engine, let set a bit and tap down on the clutch.

Mark ,I had a similar last yr.Clutch wouldn't give .I was able to pull engine mount bolts and slide the engine enough to change the belt..A giant pain but I didn't have time to wait for PB to work.If you consider doing this take a good look at the space around the belt,it may not work on all models.

Mark, you could also make a flat strap puller....or with extra hands one could put some tension on the clutch with a flat prybar after you run mounting bolt in within a 1/4 inch and tap on the bolt head.If it moves you got it made...

A shive is a plug for a bung hole in a barrel , a sheave is what you are referring to .
