Last couple weeks, while running my Cub 149 it will suddenly stop running as if out of gas. It will restart immediately and run as normal for hours, sometimes for a couple of days, Then suddenly it will shut down again and can be restarted immediately. I'm thinking it might be electrical. Would a bad coil act like that? The coil has not been replace in the last 15++ years

Could be a bad wire or wire connector... on my 73 it would act like yours, what I eventually discovered was the key switch was turning itself off. the just right combo of vibrations and bumps and the key switch would "unlatch" and the spring would pull it back to off. If it was the coil I'd think it wouldn't just restart and be fine.

I agree... when my coil died, it wouldn't start at all. "No mo go"...
