Hey guys new member here! I was recently gifted a 1971 106 by my aunt that was used on her property for many years. It had been sitting in the machine shed for the last 3 years but with alittle work it should be able to run again. My initial observations do have me alittle confused. The tractor is clearly a 106 model but has a hydrostatic transmission, which I don't believe was offered on the 106 from what I've read. I asked her about it and she was pretty adamant that it was purchased new that way. Has anyone else run across this oddity?

Well hello and welcome to the forum Joel...I'm just north of you...work in Bedford, bout 30 minutes away. (y) (y)
it may be possible that the dash cover was replaced at some point due to them wearing where the hood lies. Maybe one of the guys on here with more experience in this line can chime in.

It is most likely a model 107 hydrostatic that is badged as a 106 gear drive. I own a 106 and 107 and either way they are both great machines. A lot of people like the hydro unit more than the gear drive, I personally like both. Either way I'm sure it'll be a great machine for ya! 👍
