Any thoughts on boots, socks, etc. to keep an old geezer's feet warm when moving snow? What works and what to stay away from?

It didn't used to be an issue, but the old LL Bean boots and liners aren't doing the trick any more.

The electric socks thing has come a long way in the last 10 years.

If there's someone in your area that sells snowmobiles, check there for boots. I used to run a 4 wheeler all winter. Feet stayed perfectly warm at 30-40 kms an hour running all afternoon. Only thing about snowmobile boots they're not the most comfortable for long walks. Not designed for that though.

I wear only Muck rubber boots, Arctic Pro, very well insulated to the top of your calf, easy slip on and off. Hunting, ice fishing, snow work, or anything outside, they’re awesome!

I too have the Muck Boot Arctic Pros. Very good boots. Only issue I have is that the 'hard shell' outside splits where it creases as you walk. Mine are 7 years old. They neoprene. Basically a scuba diving wetsuit made as a boot. Also look at Dry Shod. I think that's the name. The original designer of Muck, sold that company and opened this new company. Supposedly, took care of the slight issues that The muck boot has.
Both my daughter and wife have ARTIC SPORT mucks. They are not quite as warm as the Arctic pros but they have never had warmer boots.

I've had a pair of Sorel boots for close to 20 years and each winter they're still my go-to choice for winter footwear. Kinda pricey, but they're warm and the lower portions of the boots are waterproof and best of all (to me), they're comfortable for walking in the snow or when using the walk-behind snowblower.

I agree with the sorels,used them for 40 years . Got frost bite when I was young , never want to got through that again . I never question the prices . Went through two pair in forty years so it pennies depreciation. What I reco

Funny, I had a pair of sorels, conquests. Liked them a lot but before the first cold season ended the rubber lowers split. So much for waterproof. Looking at the reviews, many people had same issue. I'm glad you are having better luck

Don’t remember what happened to the first pair , but I bought them again as said. i wore out the filets and replaced them. Scratching my head as what happened to first pair? They were really old ! These ready for snow throwing , what I use them for. I don’t wear them in the barn environment. Nothing will stand up to that ,I think

I have the same pair of sorels for over 30 yrs that I wore mainly for ice fishing . Never got cold feet but they do turn into lead weights if you walk a lot in them.
