Upgrade NowTake a bolt that the same thread and grind in 2 sprial flutes in it and it may work.Pipe taps are tapered so I don’t think there is a bottoming tap for pipe like there is for straight threads. The measurement for pipe taps is the inside diameter of the pipe. 1” I.D. pipe tap is probably close to 1 1/4” O.D.. The Harbor Freight 1” pipe tap with 11 1/2 tpi is probably what you need. Bottoming taps are usually for straight threads such as bolts in castings with blind holes.

I believe NPT and BSPT are the same thread pitch. the angle of the thread is 60 vs 55 degrees and the thread peaks and valleys are flat vs round. as far as I know US and Canada are the only ones on NPT the rest of the world is BSP/BSPT.remember it's national NOT british latter has a extra thread
For that, I like easy-off oven cleaner. The really mean stuff... not the Nancy-mix.the main issue would be carbon buildup removal.
Correct (face palm)BLOCK, not the head.
funny than since the taps i have the BSP shows both the angle and extra threadI

first, I am wrong, I broke out the machinery's handbook!funny than since the taps i have the BSP shows both the angle and extra thread
any pictures of the tractor, Mr. rogerdleonard? Thanks,Just wanted to follow up in case anyone is interested later. the harbor freight 1” 11.5 tap and pblaster worked great. i took my time with it and got the threads nice and clean and the new pipe went in with anti-seize on it just fine. i converted the big muffler to the small round one from isavetractors using 1" black gas pipe and it works good. not sure what good the anti-seize is going to do since it burnt off but it may help.
this 106 was pretty neglected when i bought it but after some wiring fixes and carb cleaning, it runs really good. easily the ugliest one in my fleet though and the only square fender. but no smoke at all which is surprising considering the oil looked like gray gravy when i drained it. it will idle all the way down and purrs like a kitten at low idle. this was was destined to be a parts tractor anyway but the more i look at it, the more i may do some sort of refurb to it. steering is tight and clutch is good. paint is horrendous and hood is cracked around the holes but otherwise straight. grill insert is missing and has a craftsman seat. the disk brakes do nothing. the wiring is a horror show of original and other bits and pieces and i am afraid to hardly move it because it is really brittle. the dash looks like it will clean up. it seems really fast too compared to my 100's. i need another project like i need a hole in the head so we'll see.
thanks again for the help guys.
