CCC 682 dealer model

I recently acquired a yellow and white model 682. I was expecting a 1710 as I didn’t think they made white 682s. My grandpa, a former IH dealer owner and operator, thought it may be a dealer only model, anyone else hear of this? If so, would it have the regular Kohler 17 horse twin cylinder or an Onan. It had an Onan in it when I got it, and I was hoping to be sure it wasn’t original before I sold it. Thanks.

Yellow & cream GTs in the 82 series are not uncommon. I’ve seen several up for sale just around KC.
1811 might know more… ???

Should have had the KT17 Series 1 in it originally.

It is an early MTD produced 1982 682 built in Brownsville TN with serial 702003. When MTD took over from IH, the serial numbers began at 700000. Should have the iron rear. It has the body colored lift handle and dash tower.

There is no dealer edition on that model. This was a 582

MTD made yellow and white 82 series tractors for independent Cub Cadet dealerships and red ones for IH dealerships at the same time after IH ended production until IH ceased to exist in 1985. They are the same tractor with different color paint. Yours is an early one that still has leftover IH production parts in it.

Never really minded that engine. Were there problems with them?

Looking at a VW 1.6 I4 diesel to put in it, along with power steering and hydraulic lift.

The Series 1 had a low pressure oiling system without a cross drilled crank, and for units that were used on inclines, that meant lack of oiling and early demise. The Series 2 fixed that problem, and then most of the Magnums added a spin on oil filter.

I will look. Are the ones with those dashes rare?

So that didn't have a magnum stock? That explains why our 782 has a good engine, its got a magnum 17.

Magnums started in 1986, and can easily be identified by the lack of an external ignition coil.

Also, just looking at that picture, I see that the right gauge is a tachometer with your meter. Was that stock?

That is a Borg maintenance minder. This was another part that was carried over from IH production. They can be hard to read, so most have been swapped for the improved later Cub Cadet hour meters, which are easier to read.
