While taking some photos of the Sunset Friday evening I noticed these in both of my Crab Apple Trees. Do I do anything about this, if so what?

Vince, those would be tent caterpillars. Do a google search for control info. Looks like you caught them early you could probably just remove them by hand. Do it before they spread as they will eat the leaves.

Looks like what I had in my Walnut tree several years ago. I was told to cut those sections out, and burn them beyond recognition, so the caterpillars couldn't infest anything else. SteveG

Steve- Tent catapillers (sp?) Burning a good idea IF you can reach the main one on a small branch. I use an old rag with a little kerosene on it and burn then out. Main thing is to disrupt the web. Then the birds can get at them. The hatch in the ground. A real pest but will not kill the tree.

Well I took a plastic fork and destroyed these webs, and then sprinkled bug powder on the general area of both trees. This was done on Tuesday evening. I failed to look at these yeaterday and this morning...

I'll check it out tonight!
