I just bought a 1969 cub cadet 127. With a 42in deck and I need to know what the belt size is that runs from the pto to the deck?
There's a chart available in the Cub Cadet FAQ thread that lists this belt for your 127 PTO to 42" deck, part no. IH-490489-R2 which is 3/8"x80".

I'm hoping someone can tell me what size deck I have. Because I was told by the guy that sold me the cub cadet that it had a 42in deck. I wrote down the deck identity number.
The deck identity number is 482u116

Does it have wheels or runners? Buy the 482U116 model that is the later style that was used on a wide frame,. 128,129,149,169.

As Matt said that deck number is a 48" deck. I'm guessing when you look at the FAQ chart it's skewed and you can't really tell which belt you really need so here's what's on the chart for 48" deck.
Part No.IH-489397-R3, 3/8"x75-1/2".
Now, to be exactly sure of the deck I'd remove it, flip it over, turn the outer 2 blades cross wise so they are across the deck width, and then measure blade tip end to blade tip end. You'll know for certain if it's 48" or 42" - but if it has a tag with the number you posted it would certainly seem to be 48".

I posted some pictures of what the cub cadet and deck look like. I have two questions one, is this a cub cadet 127 with a 48in deck and two was a 48in deck an option on this type of tractor? This isn't the wrong type of deck because if it is I got scammed by the guy who sold it to me.

It will be super easy if you tell us what the numbers says on this tag. ;-)

I'm nearly positive that a 48" deck. Has all the features I'd expect to see.
Now, is the tractor a 127? Well pretty certain it is. It's not a 147 with 14hp engine because it doesn't have the frame expansion. It does have an electric lift which was standard on a 147 and optional on the 127 with 12hp engine, and 107 with 10hp engine. Best to see the tag on the side of the engine show K301A which would mean 12hp and make the tractor a 127.
