With the break in all of the snow I’m finally getting some time to work on my granddaughters 124.

We have about 2 feet of settled snow now. Pretty odd for here this early in the season

Are you stripping everything on the 124?

Looks like you've got chains on the other IHCC's, but no blade or thrower?

Yes going to strip the 124 completely down. And the 105 back blade and 1450 has the blower. The blower don’t work that well but it’s been pretty wet heavy snow and the exhaust blows right on to the chute hence melting the snow and plugging it up.

Jake, sand down any rust in the discharge chute and give it a coat of graphite paint, like Slip Plate.

Thanks Ken I will try that. I have to do a few other things to it also. It was cobbled together on a wide frame quick attach and works but not correctly.

Cannot comment on Slip Plate. For this job I sand and use Axalta 5717s to take the rust down to grey/black metal - rust is now gone. Then. at least two coats of high quality gloss paint with epoxy hardener OR two coats of POR15.
Cheers, Jack

I have another question about the snowblower. It is missing the guard on the front and center. Does that help carry snow out the chute or just keep it from throwing more in front of you. I’ve got the blower off of the tractor again and going to do a little bit of repair on the mounting bracket and paint the chute and if it helps I have seen them on fleabay and might pick one up. Thank you.

You mean the wire-grate looking part? It's supposed to help keep from throwing rocks or putting your hand where it doesn't belong. In my experience, it just helps it clog. Most of those have disappeared for a reason.

You will want to get one, or fabricate one of those! That helps prevent the auger from just tossing snow forward and helps direct it up the chute.

We have just the opposite issue. We are normally white from late October until mid March. This year we had a few small snows and an 18" snow, that's long gone as we have actually been above freezing a few times, just in time for rain. Weird year
