I'm looking for something a little different for the 1512 I'm building for tires.
The price on Firestones is out of control and I've run BKT,Carlyle,Deestone and a few others.

I'm thinking about trying these Kenda ATV tires in 25x10x12.
The atv guys say they run a bit small so I think fitment should be OK.
This will be 90% a plow tractor...so I'm not worried about the lawn.
They look mean as heck!

Rick - Just to be clear, by plow tractor, do you mean moldboard plowing as in doing gardens and garden tractor plow days.... Or plowing snow.

I think Travis S. Had a tire similar to that on his turbo diesel.

Recreational moldboard plowing, as in dirt.

My Cubs generally do not see snow unless pulling the kids around the yard.

I'd say go for it Rick. Since it's gonna be pretty much a dedicated dirt turning setup and not a "lawn mower", I wouldn't worry about the aggressiveness. I really like the looks of them. Loaded with a set of weights or two and you shouldn't have any traction problems. At first I was thinking V's up front, but I'd almost go with tri ribs.

And the price, of course, can't beat that. I've seen and heard of other guys running ATV tires and loving them. I, myself haven't run them on any of my cubs. How's the turbo setup coming along?

Here's a couple photos of the ATV tires that Travis had on his turbo diesel Cub:

Thanks for the pics Kraig,
These look more like a traditional Ag tire and I'm staying with a modest size to fit in the furrow...so I did not think I could go wrong.
I do want a look that means business, and these are aggressive for sure.
Josh,
It is going good. The turbo I bought was toast and I have a new cartridge on the bench.
The adapter plate is done (I will post some pics soon) and the piping / silicone boots are all ordered as well as gauges.
I also bought a power steering set-up from the other Josh S..
It's been a dream to build a tractor like this and I'm glad I bought it right because the money goes FAST...and I still need a rear lift.

A big THANK YOU to Steve B. and Mike M. for sharing information and pictures relating to the turbo installation. I am very grateful for the support!

Rick - Don't worry about the furrow tire matching or being less than the plow bottom size. I've plowed thousands of acres with a five bottom, 14 inch bottoms with 18.4x34 inch drive tires. The outer edge of the furrow tire compresses a bit of dirt you can see between passes but nothing that causes any problem. A 26-12.00x12 fits fine in the furrow of a 10 inch Brinly.

Some of the furrows that I've followed are not very pretty. If I could follow myself if might be different.
I have not been happy running 26-12-12's in the past and they would be out of place on what is not a SGT in my opinion.
Tires are ordered, so I guess I'll find out.

Rick -I've been at plow days where a slab of dirt falls back in the furrow that you have to drive over. Not fun!

Guy I bought my 982 from had his 782 w/26-12.00x12's at P.D. #1 and I've seen more and more at every PD since. The larger overall diameter increases ground clearance and you won't high center the diff housing like I've had happen with my 72 with 23-8.50x12's.

Larger diameter increases stress on the drive train but evidently not enough to cause problems. If you twist the end off an axle, You wanted to add the finer spline larger diameter MTD axles anyhow!

I fiqure these might be a decent compromise being 25" tall.
I agree the 23" I get hung up plenty!

Rick,

I'm sure those will hook up! I'm not too worried about 26" rubber in the furrow, more about getting hung up, but your tires look like a good compromise.

Post some pics of them mounted up!
