Got a question for you Aaron Schmidt. Might justs get a loader for my 1712 cub on thursday. Seeing what you can do with a little steel. And, I must say it looks great. Can you put a loader on to a tractor and still use the mower deck. I was wondering if I could drive the pump off the driveshaft. Not the front pto. The loader that I'm looking at is going to be adapted to the tractor, and I know that I can do the work to make it fit. If you would have any Ideas, I would like to here them. Thanks, Again nice tractor

Matt,

If you have a narrow frame, I'll soon have the kit available to mount a pump and drive it from the rear engine pulley to do exactly what you're looking for. The wide frame kit will follow. I don't know how the loader is mounted to the frame. There may be interference with the deck lift frame.

Aaron, How do you like your V-bar snow tire chains? Does your concrete show wear from using them? I wonder if they are too aggresive for use on asphault...

Matthew:
I don't have the Vbar chains, but I can tell you that just regular chains are hard on concrete if you spin the tires at all, and I can almost guarantee that you'll spin tires for one reason or another when you're moving snow, even with weights on the tractor..

Matt W. - The loader tractor is definately a work in progress. I took the simple route and made my own sub frame so that I could put it exactly where i wanted it. I toyed with the idea of using the stock deck on it, but it wasnt going to work cause the subframe interferes too much. i am sure that someone has done it. That is why I started with a bad tractor - no motor and other issues. I had a briggs 16 hp from a snapper riding mower that of course fit really nice in there. I dont have the front clutch on cause i am just running a direct drive via belt to the stock johnson pump. It would have been nice to put the pump under the seat but i didnt want to deal with all the hoses and junk, and if i do ever take it off, i can easily put it on another tractor. i an putting a 3 valve on there now from a JD tractor, which i found out use the weird sized 5/16" JIC fittings which just came today. That will allow me to have the front ports for operating another cylinder. Should work out good. Once that is done, then it is power steering and after it is all working, im tearing it apart and its all getting powder coated - everthing.

Matt K - I love the v-bar chains. They were a bit more expensive than the standard chains, but really grip ono ice. Since that photo, i have swithced to Carlisle Mud Wolf 26x12-12 and did the front bearing spindle upgrade to it and running 18x8.5-8 on front. And yes, you will wear hard on your cement and really hurt apshalt when you spin with the vbar chains.

Aaron,

Be careful with the JD valve. Most of them have no relief in them which could cause a problem running the loader. No where for the fluid to go at full stroke on the cylinders.

John,

Lack of a relief valve should be common to most garden tractor valves because they're usually supplied by the hydrostat which relieves internally. The 1, 2, & 3 spool Cessna/Eaton valves can be ordered new with built in reliefs.

John, Thanks for the information on the JD valve - i didnt know that they didnt have a relief. Do you know if they can have one put in or something....

Tom, I cant say that its growing on me but wife said i should try to get a few more colors on there. She just likes to get a word in edge wise when she can. She already has plans for me to make a new tiered flower garden this spring with the loader tractor. She better be nice to me... LOL

Oh, thanks for the info Jerry. Where can a guy get them? Do you got a source? Probally have to sell a tractor to get one - hope it isnt the V6 Cub!
