There should be an angle bracket bolted to the head.
If yours is missing, it's easy to make one.

David S,
You're not parking that fine looking 147 outside under a tree are you?
bottom.gif

I have found out that parking anything outside will create problems in a hurry.
I parked my boat and motor outside under a tarp for about 6 months during the year I moved into my house. I had to take it to the shop twice during that time (not to mention the mud daubers stopping up my water pump line). I have had no problems since then.

Marty, Heavens NO!!
That's where I rescued it from was under a tree!
Working on the steering issue in the morning.
The wheel came off surprisingly easy w/just a few well placed raps w/a brass drift and a hammer.
Only one problem though, the dern thing was broken to start with! So I will be in the market for a nice one soon!

Marty -

Speaking of "daubers"
Remember Doug Anderson's "mud / dirt dauber" atmospheric vent fiasco?
Them darn daubers!!!

For reference I have rims from a 1541 as well as its front axle on the #1-1450. The 1541 fell in my lap after the local school district blew a rod. Rest of it is long gone. I think Vince T. Got most of it few years ago.
I have a set of Firestone 23 degree 26-12-12 with 75 hours on them sitting in shed waiting for my cheap butt to buy rims. I like the v-61 that Steve B. Posted, I need new front tires for 1200.....
Well got to get the herd over first! And a camera, my phone is a pita to resize pics on.

For pulling the engines out, I went further and drilled out a ceiling fan hook that is supposed to support a 300# load and bolt to 2 head bolts. Or if I was in high school again pull a k-341 out with brute(shear stupid) strength from a 1650. We won't get into the'brute strength' issue.
Instead of collecting quiet lines, I may collect one from each era. I have a 100, 102, 104, 1200-1450's, and 782 I just need to fill in the gaps. An 'O' 1x6/7, 1x8/9 and I'll be good to go!

Well yesterday I had a pretty good "much deserved" tounge lashing from a forum member concerning the parts 1250 and its "Final Resting Spot"

308833.jpg

So I figured I'd go public w/ an announcement to avoid any more
bottom.gif

I was reminded that although the IH cub cadet does belong to me and I am perfectly within my rights to do with it as I will that doesn't negate the fact that there are many people that have and or will have a "NEED" for parts that still remain on the 1250 including myself!!!

So I will begin to break the oLd boy down this weekend getting the 1250 into smaller more manageable space saving pieces and stored "indoors" along w/ 149 where my garage dehumidifier will prevent an escalated moisture/rust scenario that an outdoor environment can not!!!

I've already had one request for parts that would not affect my possible 149 1x8/1x9 future need and I'll be working on fulfilling that request this weekend as well,
happy.gif

Anyway thanks to all who have gave me help, guidance, support, and advice concerning the refurb of my 149!!!

I hope everyone has a productive and blessed day!

Regards Jason,

Charlie P

Thanks for the info
I DID look on FAQ and belts page, and every other page I could find.
I did not see my 127 listed.
Best I can tell, I need the IH-549250-R1 - 7/8 X 143 7/8" Long belt to run the 1A tiller. Is that correct?

Josh S.
You need a IH-487045-R2.
For Tractor Serial No. 400,000 & below

Or,
IH-549250-R1
For -Tractor Serial No. 400,001 & above

Got a nice package from Charlie today. Mr. McFeely and Charlie are fast, Now Scott and I have parts to get 6 tractors running. Thanks Charlie.

David S.

Pull the motor of the electric lift and see if it spins freely no voltage applied, then test for rotation with 12v.

If the above is ok check if the gear box is not jammed or striped. Turn the pinion shaft using just a little bit of torque, #2 below. It is generally one or the other, bad motor or gears.

David S,

Whew! you had me worried there for a minute.
Are you saying the steering wheel is broke? I have one or two if you are interested. Email in profile.

Jason,

Yes, spare parts do come in handy once in a while.
Have you decided on which route you are going on those spare front wheels?
Charlie has got my mouth watering over those Firestone tri-ribs!

Ok, so I'm getting 1250 parts indoors. Just curious what might cause the big groove or gouge near base of spindle on the top pic? And also what appears to be the hair line fracture cracks in the other spindle on bottom?

Jason - say that was a real nice post. I think I said something about doing what you're going to do quite some time ago.

And by the way, I can't wait to see what you decide to do about the front rims and new tires. Ooh, and one more thing, I just ran across the spec in the Service Manual. End play is 1/32nd. If your wheels have more than that you need to shim them up. Otherwise your wheel bearings will eventually slip and "cock" on the shaft, maybe even seize and break and start cutting into the shaft itself. Seen that several times on the narrow frame units but not often on a wide frame.

Under Edit - Jason, you were posting when I posted the above info. That gouge in the spindle in the top pic is likely from a seized bearing cutting into it.

Hydro -

You answered my question before you Knew it was a question, concerning the 1250 Spindle's,

Marty, Yeah, it's broke!
Still useable, but for sure, broken.
I didn't do it!!
Just glad it came off w/o a fight!

308888.jpg

Jim, I'll give that a shot.
Has anyone done a thread on re-hab for one of these?

Has anyone used the 23-8.5-12 Carlisle tru powers? I like my 10.5 wide and am looking into another set. I only have more 8.5 wide rims sitting. And I'm being cheap
