Dave - The one all by itself, second picture is an early W-9. Last picture, cab tractor is the end of that model line, a 650. Looks like a diesel. The two side-by-side are a W-9 gas on the left, another 650 diesel on the right. The three in front of the house are all 650's, diesel on the left, LP in the middle and gasoline on the right. Tractordata says IH only built 4933 total in 1956 to 1958, strange to see so many with a couple W-9's all in the same place. I think the rounded flat top fenders signify Riceland equipment, so the must have been a really big rice plantation around there.
Neighbor across the road bought a gas W-9 about 1963 to take some of the load off his 560 gas farming 320 acres. His only other tractors were two worthless 8N Fords and a Cub Farmall he mowed his lawn with. Dad kinda followed his lead, bought JD R diesel when he thought he was getting another 160 acres 20 miles away. I did most of the plowing with it spring of '64, what a TERRIBLE machine to run! I never remember Dad running it, I still had 16 acres left to plow when the township road commissioner made Dad's problem His! Township knocked the PTO out three times in three years and unloaded it. What an absolute piece of junk. A W-9, Super W-9, 600,650 would have been worlds better.
