Fact that I've typed more than the forum wlll handle has Nothing to do with Me deleting posts!

Dennis Frisk,

Do it in parts. You have a lot to contribute. What ya going to do... take it to the grave? Share. Teach to those willing to learn. Or something like that.

Lets get the back on track. No $$ 1872 Cub Cadet I brought home this weekend.

That would be a '87,'88 or '89 CCC built 1872 we're "getting back on track" with ????

(looks like a winner...)

I need to find a 3 speed to swap out form the inferior hydro tranny. And I am trying to convince the wife that a 40hp Kohler twin would go perfect with the turbo diesel tractor.

Ryan, wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to get a used p/u truck with a Cat0 on the back of the bumper?? Then the OL might be more receptive.

Ryan,

Just buy the 40hp and ask for forgiveness later. That would be a nice combo.

Dennis F.,
Come on,, let's hear ya!

As Richard P. indicated, "Spill your thoughts, rather they rot inside you."

I always enjoy your comments -- and I typically find them thought-provoking, interesting and educational. Of course, as long as it can be related to pre-'81 Cubs....

Denny-
Reading your posts, I'm quite privelaged to have spent time in the shop consuming MGD and Mike's. Having been in a design position for a few years in at Waterloo Works and Dubuque Works, it's fun to hear how parts were sourced, things tested, etc . . . thinking back to it almost makes me miss designing the darn things.

Dennis, Matt

I know what the teaser does, there's just no room for the plates to close with the resurfaced plates. It looks like there was just enough clearance taken off to cause a slight gap when the clutch spring is released.

Its ok the only thing my tractor will be doing for awhile is plowing any way. Thanks for the input

Kendell I, Naa, its just your imagination.

Matt S, hows the 149 coming? I got my 124 going again today

Brian-

I've read your latest post and your previous one about a dozen times, and I really don't understand what's going on with your clutch. You make it sound like you're putting the teaser spring BETWEEN the pressure plates or something. If there's "no room for the plates to close", I wonder if there's anything left of them...

OK Guys . . I didn't mean to open up a can of worms about the hightest vs lowtest.

I guess I got what I asked for...

I would like to add that the gentleman I spoke of has over 50 years experience with many different makes of engines. I tend to listen to his type. We were talking about Stabil one day when he offered the information about shelf life.

Thanks for all of the educational input. Now I have to check the timing on about 6 cubs.

One quick question for those guys who have replaced the hoses on their NF hydraulic lift. How long did you get the short hose made?(orginally 9 inches) The new kinds of hoses are stiffer and dont bend like the old ones do. Im just worried about it kinking and not getting the oil where it needs to go. Did you get it made the same lenth? did/does it work ok? Thx in advance

Josh; I got my hoses made 1 inch longer than what was on the unit. Works perfect. The old hoses had no slack in them and one was seeping at the back end of the connector.

Hey guys I took the head off the 109 last night clean her all up and put a new gasket on Started her up and had to adjust the carb a little but she runs great now and most of all it will idle now. I am going to work on the hydro lever tonight if that goes as well as the head clean up I should be ready to plow snow with her soon. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP.

Wayne S:
Don't believe everything (us) old guys tell ya - some of it is just for "effect"....

Like changing the air in your tires for example... Though nitrogen in tires is a good thing. Hmmm, I wonder what effect helium in the tires would have on MPG?

Kraig McC.,
I'd guess that since helium is lighter than air, it would cause a SLIGHT lift to the Cub, causing less tire-to-ground friction, thus, giving you better MPG!
...I'm not sure as to what type of measuring equipment you'd need to measure the difference.....
