Thanks Kraig-
Good to know I haven't killed off too many brain cells!

Once again looking for a tidbit of set up info for my old CW36 snowthrower. How does the cable thing (that controls the discharge chute) route? Anyone, Kraig?) have any reference photos or just plain knowledge. That is really the last piece of the puzzle, No snow yet but just wait, 300 inches last year... Dave

David, these are from a BB36 but it should be the same. Hopefully they'll help.

Kraig- thanks a bunch! You really do have the photos! Does the cable wrap around the aluminum spool a few times? Cant quite tell. Dave

David, I no longer have that BB36 but I found another photo that I took of it.)

Frozen spindles! Apply heat? Already tried Kroil and PB Blaster...

Not a week or more ago, someone posted problems with getting correct governing on a QL-spec motor... not able to get minimum and maximum... I suggested that the spring was too long...

Today, I was workin' on Loader-Mutt, and came across another 12hp governor spring... and it was about 3/8" shorter overall.

My assumption is that there is either a similar spring for the larger motors, or the linkage variations made need for two different spring lengths. Either way, if one has the 'too long' spring in place, it won't work so great... shorten it up by 3/8" and try again.

Remember- the governor-arm side adjusts the governor's 'sensitivy' to load. The throttle-lever side adjusts the 'range' from idle to full-governed-speed.

I've been reading the posts from way back about my 1450 and have been appreciating the immense amount of knowledge on CC tractors. Thanks guys!
But here is a question I have not seen adressed. I had to replace the roll pin in the lift mechanism, what a PITA (the pnuematic hammer finally drove it out). now the snowthrower finally will lift, but only about two or three inches. Is this the normal height, or should I change to one of the other two linkage positions on the hydro cylinder mechanism (the mower deck was on the top hole when I got it)?

Since I bought my home I've been very lucky. my first tractor was a Bolens G10 10 HP with a snowthower, deck, rototiller, and Brinly disk. I bought it for 250, sold it for 600 within an hour of putting it to the road two years later (I know it's a little OT, but I figure that with all the classic tractor buffs out there someone might like that information) Regardless, I only sold it after purchasing the 1450 with the 44A deck and snowthrower for a steal, and I've been completely satisfied. What a great tractor! I've included a couple of pics, including my son the next owner of this tractor when he buys a house.

Sorry about the size of the pics, I'll have to figure out how to reduce them (the file size should have clued me in). BTW the previous owner repainted it, therefore no decals (I'm working on it), but at least he used the right colors.

Daniel H -

Could be that your lift rod is a tad too long, thus not letting it pick up far enough. A couple members here will verify that the lift rod on my 169 requires one to lift the thrower a wee bit to get the rod in the hole when hooking it up.

Also, make sure that the height adjustment cam is set properly. In my case, I remove it entirely.

Also, the top links in your picture (the boomerangs) are supposed to point down, not up. Perhaps not too important on a Quiet Line, but that's the way they're supposed to go.

OK, so I know it was posted but I'm coming up blank when searching...

Putting the 86 up for the winter. Run it out of gas or fill it and add fuel stabilizer?

It will be stored in dry (unheated) storage.

Any suggestions?

Maybe it's "railroad"

Yes, we pick on our members, but you probably already know that.

I would like to point out that you DID prove that someone CAN create BIG pic and keep it under our 50KB limit. Now you need to play with the resolution a bit. I like to keep my pics around 500 pixels wide.

Steve "B",
Better wax up the plow. Looks like you are supposed to get some white stuff in the HOI area.
