I took some photos this morning of last nights assembly progress. Note the paint chip on the fuel tank.

ART - About 20 yrs ago when the first rollpin in the driveshaft of the 72 sheared and I pulled the rearend for a rebuild I tried to get the coupling off the reduction pinion by shearing It's roll pin. BIG pipe wrench, LONG piece of pipe on the handle. EXPENSIVE pinion when I snapped the end off the pinion. OEM driveshaft to replace worn-out factory shaft wasn't cheap either!

Morning everyone. I've been second guessing myself today. I just reinstalled the clutch in my 100 I'm restoring last night and I'm wondering if I shouldn't have tore it down and checked it out
1a_scratchhead.gif
. I'm planning on only using this for plowing after I'm done with it. Despite the very rough appearence of this tractor the mechanicals are all very good. The steering and clutch was very tight and worked better than any other I've ever had. I'm concerned that the stock clutch won't have what it takes for plowing. What do you guys think? Will I be alright with a good stock one? or should I at least install a red spring?

If Your stock clutch is O-K I'd leave it. I had a 10 HP gear drive Cub Cadet and the stock clutch worked fine for plowing. You get into the heavier springs and You have to lengthen the clutch release arm and it makes the clutch not want to release cleanly & completely. It's a PITA for a daily work tractor.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY.... All fellow Vet's THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your service !!

TIM - No. straight petroleum oil with additives. If You do a search on VISCOSITY OIL You can read about it. Viscosity makes Hy-Tran.

Trying to get the 125 back in service.
I finally got the trunion arm welded and installed new springs and guides(sponser parts)

. Found the flex disk showing it age, so that's on the way from a sponser along with a hydro filter and a rear transmission gasket. The coupling arm pin hole was really elongated, but I located a new one at a dealer. While the transmission was upside down I noticed two things: 1 there was a tie wrap and a stainless strap that were holding a big wad of foam material around the brake push pin, and 2 a small amout of oil on the bottom of the transmission case. I cut the tie wrap and removed the strap and foam wondering what horror show I would find from a previous owner. To my surprise everything looked ok. A little loose but ok. Hopefully the adjuster will take up the slack.
Next I checked the bolts on the transmission and all were tight. I wasn't obvious where the oil had come from and I hadn't seen any oil on the garage floor before splitting. Could a
"very" small amount of oil leak from a bolt hole where the frame bolts to the transmission as the tractor is still split and the transmission was upside down?

Lastly I'll change of Hytran while I have it split. It looks like it would be a lot easier at this point. I'll check the FAQs, but I am hoping all I need to do is drain clean and install new gasket and HyTran.

Also took advantage of what is probably the last mild day of the year to take the snowthrower apart and spray it with graphite paint.

Kraig nice looking 125!!!
