Porter, nice find! BTW, that cast part of the rear lift appears to be for a wide frame. A better photo of it and the lift bar would allow a firm ID.

Regarding the runners on mower decks. Careful of just removing them as I believe they stiffen the deck shell. Richard added a brace over the top on his deck(s) and should be OK removing the runners. Several years ago I wore through one of the runners on one of my 42" decks and it was not long after, that the deck shell cracked around the outer spindle on that side. I believe it was from the deck shell flexing without the runner there to act as a stiffener. <FONT SIZE="-2">IMO, FWIW, YMMV, My $0.02, Yada, Yada, Yada...</FONT>
Mike, the fenders used on an Original are different from those used on the 70/100. The 70/100 fenders would not fit without major modification/fabrication.

Kraig You are correct about the lift, it is the square cast style for the w/f and the bar is zig zag. I may keep it for a some day tractor. As you can see the p/o was a little confused about it. I opened it up and may have a broken ring the way the piston is not centered so it will need a teardown.
Porter, the spring assist is also a Wide Frame version.

Paul, come to think the rear wheels do seem like they are right in the way of the possible deck wheels. Will have to do some look'n and decide.
Like Dennis, my yard is an obstacle course of trees, roots and lots of dipty do's and small embankments. Not much flat, but the middle(and that ain't much).
My previous mower had to run with the deck fully up to keep from scalping and that kept it from falling into the holes and tearing things up. With the Cub, the deck hangs down(like it's suppose to) and if you're not careful you can dig a trench with it(or take 2" of sod off the top of a crest)!!!!
Even if I have to custom make the brackets and get them to the outside edge of deck to clear the tires?

I miss spoke earlier when I said my cam had worn on the lobes. It was in the shop and I had not seen it. It turns out the wear was on the shaft. It's hard to see in the pictures. It's on one side like it was lopping.

I haven't really examined it. I'm thinking that the solid carbon build up in the crank case breather area at the exhaust valve had something to do with it. Looking at the picture the rub looks to be about a 180 from a lobe. Like I said I haven't really look at it. I wound up getting a good used engine for the 129. Then I hit a worn out drive line. So I got to repair the drive line then put in the engine. I'm gonna rebuild this K301 a little at a time as money allows.

Just an after thought here. When I hit the worn out drive cup, drive shaft, broken fan, and worn out rear coupler I considered stopping with this tractor (again). Because up to this point everything I had done for this 129 could have been transfered to a GD of mine. So I looked as best as I could at the trunnion without taking off the fenders. There was an inspection hole(?) and I looked from the front of the transmission. Much to my amazement it looked text book perfect. So I went ahead and put on the new hydro filter I bought and will redo the drive line. This might not be the only hydrostatic drive I wind up owning, but it will be the only wide frame.

Richard C - Do you have any detailed plans for you mods to the 50c deck (and if so, are you willing to share)? Or, do you just have the vision and make it happen? I haven't used my 50c for a couple years, but your modifications are tempting me to go back to it.

Larry K. I made these simple brackets for the 42" deck on my 149. They have been on there for about 30 years and the deck metal hasn't cracked that I know of.
Work on the 104 seems to have slowed to a crawl. Everything I have left to do seems to be the in the "ask my wife if I can spend the money" stages! Still need to rebuild the "K" a wire harness, 4 new tires, a decal set and some odds and ends. I figured by the time the snow starts flying again I might have it done! I still have to get to work on the 48" deck I picked up.
