Frank - Your governor has issues. I'm uploading my K301 ...

would not surprise me. i do not think the previous owner serviced the tractor once, since he bought it new.

if i do not figure this out soon, i am going to buy another cub and turn this one into a flower planter.

I like flowers ... ;)

I may not get in here by the time my upload finishes (16 min) but you can find it @ "cannmaster".

Your governor has very little movement. It should moved forward considerably when giving it full throttle. Now when you see my vid take into account that my throttle shaft needs bushed real soon !

Re-cap ... you did loosen gov arm and turn shaft all the way to the LEFT then move the gov arm all the way to the LEFT then without either moving tighten the arm clamp ?

i moved gov arm first, then shaft, if that makes a difference. other then that, yes, that is how i adjusted the gov.

cannmaster on youtube? the only canmaster i see has a jeep, cannon , melting iron, etc. no tractor videos.

Kentuck,
Oh yea, more than once i might add!
Including

oh wait . i see the International Hugh Payloader model HA (converted to Hydrostatic drive) in your profile. running on a power drill. that must be you.
haven't found the cub yet.

My engine is surging because of the worn throttle but you can see how much movement it makes before the surge begins. Then I idle it down and speed it up again and turn on the 42" blades.

I'd venture a guess that you need to check the inside ... open heart surgery.

You might ought to check the movement of your throttle cable to see if it has full travel. I like to take off the clamp and push the cable out all the way then hold the gov all the way to the left then tighten the cable clamp. That way it has full throttle movement. It may be necessary to move it back a little if it wont slow down enough to a normal idle.

Frank - I have more than one perversion ...

Digger - CRS kicked in ...

I bet your proud of me ... it's all typed out and ready to post BUT I refrained ...

ok. off to check the throttle cable. the gov. moved a lot when i adjusted it, throttle might be out of whack now.

throttle control, on the dash, stops about halfway between full and idle.
but, the governor linkage is against the idle screw on the carb, when the throttle is at half.
do you think i should adjust the throttle cable?
i mean, if the governor arm is against the screw, it wont go any further.

Frank - Your "second stall and restart, about 1 minute later." video sounds just like mine did when the points had slipped and closed down to about a .010" gap (or less , forget now) but after I reset the gap all's well.

I don't hear your governor working though , but mine didn't either when the points closed.

Now I've reached the end of any help I can offer. Got no more ideas .........................

Got my 122. How can I tell the year without a s/n
It has been ripped off as with the engin tag
so I dont know what horse it is but everthing is a little different than my 66. sn tag was on back of trans insted of top ant it has a plate under the clutch and a different carb? I think this tractor was "Hot" at one time. I will proably get the parts I need off of it and then I will
part it out. The head bolts are also different.
The trip was well worth my while becaus it has a gas tank that looks bran spankin new

Then I think your throttle cable is hindering the carb and the gov.

I may have forgot which way I use to adjust the cable.

Maybe it was all the way down on idle then close the carb throttle all the way then tighten the cable clamp.

Been to long and I can't remember crap anymore.
Try this first and see , if not then the other way.

Charlie:
So didja RTFM or just chew on the cover??

Frank - It's not exactly how much it moves as it is how much travel the cable wire has to move inside the sheath.

i will check points, and i just noticed something i had missed. i am not at full throttle.
when i adjusted the governor, it moved the throttle adjustment and now it does not open the throttle fully.
so, i will adjust the throttle, check the points, and try again.
thanks for your help.
