I would love to live where you do,I would be offering my help to the farmers with operating tractors . plowing or what ever I love to operate them.Funny that you should mention diesel and heat , My truck will pull much better if worked and has been hot from working for at lest 20 minutes. When my pyro reads 1100 and I see 38 lbs boost an a wet day all I can say is hold on lol.I just ordered a boost dump valve for my truck.Problems arrive when making 38 lb boost and take your foot off the go petal. My trucks turbo will spin back wards and bark. So I have ordered a pressure relief valve so that it will dump any pressure over 39 lbs.My wife just gave Canada post here retirement date of Dec 20 so, We will be traveling accost Canada next spring. Look out, I might drop down your way .I would love to drive in on Charlie to see a face to so many phone calls . I have enjoyed this site for a few years and well would love to visit a few people that post here. Wayne, Denny, digger,Kraig, And Kentuck for a yarn. Who knows I might do that lol.I guess IT depends on the wife and how many brownie points I can save up lol.

Here's a pic of my front tires per your request. Again, nothing special, they're off my old 124. I like them b/c they don't rut the lawn.

re the rears, here's a few more pics of the 100 in action. (Ya can never have enough action shots). I have another set for winter use with the chains already mounted. I keep them on until I plow the garden with them in the spring and then change to the bigger turf for summer use. Front tire stay on all year long.

Re: setting governors. The term WOT is often misused, when we really mean HSNL (high Speed No Load) When the high speed is adjusted it is with no load, or only the parasitic loads of the starter/generator and/or the transmission.

At this point the throttle plate in the carb is not even close to fully open, as very little power is required.

The term Wide Open Throttle,or WOT is when the governor senses load and causes the throttle plate to open fully, thus the term. We measure engine performance at 3600 WOT as well as 2600 WOT on the dyno's. To determine WOT you will look to the governor spring; it must be extended under load or to look at this a different way, pulling the throttle plate wide open. This is where peak torque/hp is measured.

If you sense that power is low, make sure that the cable is adjusted so that when the engine is off/throttle lever moved to high speedthe governor spring is not relaxed. It must have some extension, or slight space between the coils.

Hope this helps clear it up.

Thanks for that info, I trust all info we post to be considered In what that engine was desinged for.Sory Steve (mister plow) . I`am old and when things get old some times a casting crac or heat or or or will cause issues. I don`t think 3600 rpm`s are necesary for our aplication in Cub cadets. I think the 149 14K is more than what I need to mow grass and some trailer duity. So I tend to run under spec and not pres the issue of ( when it will ,could break). I can understand pullers wanting to get it all for that aplication. I just can`t seem to use all I have now.

I have my 100 set up now with turf tires and when ever I want more traction I will put chaines on. I do like my 100 and installed tri-Ribs on it more for the look.

Oh Ray the Neck pillow is price less, I have to use one , but not for a tractor pillow.

Hello,
Can someone tell me if a mower deck off of
a model 104 will fit a model 122? I know they're
both narrow frames, but I don't know if there
is different attachment points. Thank you for
any help.

Hey Don-

Does the 125 have a new pan yet? Also, how critical is running out of fuel for the 1512? Is it like a larger tractor and has to be bled? Dennis? Steve? I just know nothing about these smaller diesels but would love to someday own one.

It's amazing how often WOT is raised and talked about. I think the last go-around was only a few weeks ago. I like reading about it because I'll learn something new every time.

Yes the mower decks should swap no problem. Under edit: However, you will have to bolt the mule drive onto the 122 as it does not have the Quick Attach hooks on it like the 104 does.

JIM D. - You must be lurking all the time! ;-)

Sounds like you have your own dyno too! The guy I think Steve B was talking about normally worries more about HP & torque from 6000 to around 7500 RPM on these Kohlers. Needless to say he uses billet steel flywheels, etc.

My feet are just a little too close to the flywheel area on the engines in these old NF GD Cubbies. I saw a pic posted here many years ago of what happens when they explode. Some guys posted videos on the RPM forum of a "Farm Stock" Farmall 1206 that the rack stuck open in the injection pump at a tractor pull out west about 2 weeks ago. After the pull was over the engine revved to over 3000 RPM just long enough for the stock cast iron flywheel to explode. It broke the tractor completely in HALF!

I'm kinda like DON, these old engines are 40-50 yrs old now, I don't like to lean on them real hard. Parts are too expensive and getting more expensive all the time, and in some cases, hard to find!

Thanks Kraig. I have the original mule drive for the tractor,
just not the deck or subframe. There's a deck for sell near
me off of a 104 that looks complete, that's why I was wondering.
I just aquired this cub a few months ago and am still learning
the differences.
