Hydro Harry, you weren't kidding about tire prices! If mine need replaced rather than a tube are there other tires that will fit on the rim? Something more reasonably priced?

Paul - I understand your dilemma! I have precisely one half of a small two car garage to work from. Not fun but make it work. Lots of shuffling stuff! Worst part of the '61!is the dash - PO hacked the crap out of it and don't think I can save it, especially with my VERY limited welding skills. Thanks very much for the post.

Scott - what size front tires do you have? 16x6.5x8 or the narrow 4.80x4x8?

Hey all - just wanted let you know that Aaron at Extrememotorworks has added the amp bracket we discussed a couple weeks ago on this site. Sent him the specs that someone posted so hoping they're correct. Cost per bracket is $15 if anyone is interested. Ordering mine soon.

Harry, I have the 16.5x6.5-8. I found brand new 16x6.5-8 for $27 so I ordered them. The tubes for the stock tires were $22.

Tom H,

The IH emblem on the 82 series front grill is not the same as the IH emblem used the IH Scout front fenders. The 82 series emblem is larger.

Mike P,

If you are still using the starter armature in you 982 shown in the pictures from 2011, no wonder it won't spin over very fast as I can see several broken wires in the windings in the closeup pict. Time to look for a new starter if its the same one in your pictures that you are using.

Ron S.
I do believe Tom was referring to the 61-65 Scout 80 that had an IH emblem on the grill. Which was not the same design as the gold IH on other grills or the small one on the fenders.

Ron,
Yes, that is the same starter I have on now. I am trying to find a new one now. I think I screwed up the shaft at the end where it fits into the brush cap.

I was trying to get the nut off the end so I can clean it up real good and well, the starter won so far!

The plastic on all my knobs are dingy, rough, & dull. Anyone have a way to rejuvenate them?
