Hey Everyone-

Does anyone have any information (i.e., model/engine # etc.) for the 16hp Briggs & Stratton IH Cub Cadet 582? I bought my dad one and need a service manual for the engine. I thought I had a Briggs engine part number and searched their site for the operators manual and it brought up a different engine. I am trying to locate an engine service manual. Thanks!

JB

Bob P. and Kraig, Thanks for responding. I never painted my Haban. It was enough to get it freed up and do some welding and then put it on the tractor so I could play. Some day I need to take it off and paint it. Just dread dropping it down.

Dennis/Andy,
Wouldn't you think a 26-12-12 would be 26" X 12" X 12"??? But noooooo. WTH!

was just nosing around on some other sites and found this "O" with bucket. Is this really an IH bucket? This show is in Arizona, those lucky dog's don't have to worry about rust!

BOB - That loader on the Original is a DANCO.

TOM H. - I don't really mind the tires being a little small, but I do kinda like them both the same size. Guy over on the RPM forum put new tires on the back of his BIG Farmall, and the two 18.4 X 38's were about 3 inches different in height! And I do like rubber that doesn't crack in a year too. I don't know exactly what Firestone's "GUM Dipped" means, but their tires have always said that since back in the early 1940's, and possibly before then even, but it helps keep the rubber from cracking/splitting for DECADES.

I had a set of the "Cub Cadet" 23 X 8.50 X 12's and they were about 101/2" shorter than the old tires "factory" tires. 1 1/2" on a small tire is a pretty big difference when you're trying to level the deck.

JB Evans,

Kraig, look again, I believe that is a 71, judgeing by the round fenders.

There is/was an Original on the roof of a small lawn/garden equipment dealers building in Black Canyon City, AZ and ever since I saw it, I have wondered "what if it is one of the 5 test tractors sent to that area".........

I got the 109 home, off the truck, turned my back and heard the tractor start...

This can't be good...

Somehow I think my boys would rather ride than lift engines out of the 1650...

Paul, I believe you are correct. I was going by the seat which appears to be one of the molded rubber ones.

Bill, looks like you lost that tractor.

Thanks Steve. My dad has a 582, and I have that info but I am trying to find a service manual for the engine. Does anyone know where I can get one? I need to know what to enter on the Briggs website because they have pdf manuals but I can't figure out what to enter. Steve, what are the numbers (with dashes) after 402437?

JB,

I have the manual at home, if I think of it I'll look up the number this evening.

(I no longer have the tractor, so what you see in the pic is what you get

Thanks Steve! You can e-mail me at [email protected]. I would love a scanned copy if possible. Or I will buy it off you since the tractor is gone. Just send me an e-mail and thanks for the info!

Mowed some grass today that used to take 1 hr 20 min that took 45 min with the zturn.Just to many trees to make any time.

26x12x12 and std GT fenders:

Easiest thing to do is to get some 1" square tubing and make spacers for the seat support and fender pan/foot rests....saves a lot of BS in the end!

Kraig,
Actually I think you are right. Check out the tall drive shaft tunnel and the larger engine. (you can't see the gas tank)
I saw it about a month ago when it was on a trailer. I do know it was not a 71 and it was "rode hard and put away wet". So I didn't pursue it any farther, but went by this weekend and seen it on the roof. I thought you guys might get a kick out of it. Oh it's in Wolf Lake, In.
Sorry, crappy iPhone camera.
