Richard C.
Thanks for the information on sourcing a new ignition switch connector, I hate reusing the old ones if I can get a new one at a decent price. I've seen the switches themselves at TSC for a reasonable price.

Thanks Marlin I guess I will keep my eyes open for another 42" deck. I agree I would never cut off those cast iron guage wheel brackets. That sure would be a shame.

Well, I adjusted the brakes on the 108 today - the caliper on one side must be frozen - it does not work - I did get the tractor to the point where one brake does work - that's better than none. I'll buy some new brake pads, and pull the wheels off and give the brakes a good overhaul sometime next month - put never-seize on the caliper sliders and such.

The piece of metal at the end of the parking brake lock lever is broken off, but the lever still works - you just have to reach down further on the lever than normal to engage. So now I have a (semi) working parking brake, and the clutch is disengaged when it's not being used, so hopefully my clutch issues are cured.

Well ive made some progress on the 127 and thought that I would share a pic, after freeing up the hydro and straightening out the brakes it seems to be in good shape. I did decide to make a new harness because I have most of the wire and just need to get some heavy wire for the leads.

Heres another, the 102 mows great after all the kinks were worked out, just wanted to share some new pics now that I have a new camera.

Im pretty handy with wiring and I have to put my new sodering gun to use, and I did get a bunch of shrink tubing, hopefully it goes well...

Glad to hear you're making progress. Hold on to your wallet when you go to order brake pads though...you may want to get some material and re-line them yourself. I think the pads are ~$75/pair from Cub Cadet, and less from the sponsors, but still expensive.

As far as brakes go, when I did my 129 I didn't like the way the linings looked. I had a 127 parts tractor at the time, and although the brakes were a different design than the ones on the 129, they bolted right on .... and the pads from the 127 were larger and in better shape. Just a thought in case you had some laying around.

Since several members of this Forum are going to the RPRU, how's about we have a "informal" get together at the Cub Cadet Corral at "High Noon" on Friday and/or Saturday? If you can't make it one day the other might work. Might have to kick a few tires and speard some b------t. Parts pick up/drop off? Whatcha' think?

Here is something I have been meaning to post for some time.

If you look at these switches both front and back you would think they were identical.

Don't bet your Cub on it. My Son in law had a switch go bad on his 1250 and went and got a replacement switch but couldn't get it to work. He finally brought the Cub over for me to check out and when I ohm-ed out the switch I found it was wired different internal. The switch was new and good but not correct for a Cub.

I could have rewired his plug and used it but I made him go get a correct one so someday down the road somebody doesn't have problems.

I'm planning on going up on Trursday after work and staying Thurs., Fri., and Saturday night about 6-7 miles away At the Best Western West.

Matt;

Thanks for the advice on the brake pads - I'll probably remove the wheels and check the pads first anyways. The calipers might just need dissassembly, and the sliders being sanded and greased.

I would think that, if the brakes are adjusted properly (so they're not dragging excessively) that the pads would last darn near forever anyways.

Hey guys, I'm going to check out a 100 this morning and was wondering if there are any tell-tale signals of a lemon I need to know.
I have a 149 and that is my only experience w/ CC's. This being an older tractor and all, I wanted to be sure I was at least a little educated before I jumped in. BTW, I plan on using the 100 to mow. Thanks, Ian

Hydros are usually pretty easy on brakes, but the brakes on a gear drive get used every time you stop, so they tend to wear out. Best thing to do is take 'em apart and see what's going on.

Well, I regret to inform the forum regulars that the concrete base from Our old satelite TV dish is now residing out in Our little woods on the corner of our lot, NOT in the area We're re-landscaping. And there were NO EXPLOSIVES used in the effort. We did get a couple pic's also. We've had rain the last couple days so I hated to work the nice loose black dirt when it's wet. But I did dig around the base yesterday morning. SON came over to work on His pickup about 9 AM, and He suggested that since I had the Super H & loader out to shovel dirt into that maybe I should tie onto the concrete with a chain. First little tug moved it a FOOT. We pushed it back and tried pulling a little harder but a tree root onder one rear tire killed My pulling power. We then got the M out and tied BOTH tractors onto the concrete. The concrete base came RIGHT out. The base wasn't as big as I thought it would be. About 30-32 in. in dia. and only 42 in. long, but at 3800#/cubic yard for concrete that still makes it weigh right at 2500 pounds.

I wanted to "Stage" a picture of the CC 70 hooked to the only chain on the base making it look like it pulled the thing out all by itself but I wanted to give the FARMALL's the credit.

JIm C. For you brake pads you may want to check into CCSPECIALTIES. Charlie has them and they arern't too badly priced. You will need to know what style you have.

Richard C. Thank You for the heads up with those two switches. Could it be one is for a FARMALL tractor?

Dennis F. I can't wait for the pictures. Still explosives would have been neat.

Since the damage is already done, surgery is scheduled, and the doctor said that if I had anything I really needed to get done before June 26th then I'd better get them done. So, Saturday morning, I worked a little on Angel's 129, (sanding and priming small parts). Then since the ground was finally dry enough I got out the tiller and tilled the garden. Then I finished mowing the rest of the lawn with the Keepsake 1650 and Clarence. Needless to say walking behind the tiller about did me in. The uneven ground sure didn't do my ankle any good. The accompanying migraine is back along with the other nussance pain. I would have asked the neighbors to till the garden only no one was around. They were gone for the weekend. I am slowly getting psyched for surgery. I guess I needed to be reminded of just how things were before I kept off my feet and just rested all day.
