Even a better idea! I'm sure a better quality bearing also.

i read where some of the boys are concidering transplanting Honda powerplants.

i just had the misfortune of owning a 1445 Honda. while at one time it was a hullofa tractor once it started to need parts things got scary right quick.
water pump - $250
Timing Belt - $30
Pto clutch - $225
Pto Backing plate - $125

if they dont need parts they are an engineering marvel. the price of parts would scare off Donald Trump that is why I bought a 169

BOB P, Steven B - Name of the place is Small Engine Warehouse. They are not a sponsor here but they seem to be popular with people from the other color lawn mower site. I'm not aware of anyone here repowering with one of their engines.

BARRY K. - I think almost ALL manufacturers have adopted CAT's philosophy on equipment and parts pricing. Sell the equipment at cost or at a loss, and make TONS of money on the parts to keep it running.

Dave R:
I dunno, but AFAIK, the spark occurs when the points open. If the points are opening before the timing mark and you set them wider, it'll fire even earlier...maybe we've got a semantic problem here on what is getting opened up, I'm talking point gap.

On the repower horsepower issue - have any of the manufacturers rerated their products after settlement of the lawsuit?? I'm not surprised that it requires a "24" HP engine to replace an older 18...

Front wheel bearings keep failing. Replacement I've found are my Sears Hardware store are cheap but seem light in duty, looking for a beefier bearing. Any suggestions for a supplier?

Heard there's double bearings a source would be helpful.

169 with 3/4 axles.

Ok, I had to revise my post cause I forgot one.

Tom H,
There's actually 5 choices for front wheel bearings.
1. Light duty aftermarket
2. Heavy duty aftermarket
3. Heavy duty Case/IH
4. Super heavy duty from Cub Cadet
5. Super heavy duty Heim bearing which IH used to sell.
And all the sponsors above that sell Cub parts, have those bearings.

Does anyone know where i can find some literature on a 982. I am having a tough time finding anything on the web.

I still have no spark I just put a brand new set of points on itafew minuts ago I found the pice of paper that said file points they may oxidize in storage so I did that still no sparkbat is dead so I charged it and it is charging at about 5 amps and I tried to crank it while it was charging and the coil got hot.

STEVEN - Kraig has ALL manner of CC literature in his files. I'm sure he'll post 982 specific stuff as soon as he sees your post.

I have hard copies, anythng specific you want to know till then?
