Judging by my e-mails, I'd say you were wrong Don Tanner!

I don't remember if I mentioned that I did get a rear light for the 73, it switches from a red jewel lamp to a clear lamp. It's red now (the housing) but I want to paint it and get it mounted. Once the temps & humidity come down a bit more. I'll share a pic or two when I get it finished. Thanks to those who helped me search one out!

Charlie "Digger" Proctor

I stand corrected on the ROPS. I knew Cub Cadet made the canopy (sun shelter) but I never considered that as a ROPS . I thought it would not support the weight of a Cub in a roll over .I have learned another useful thing about Cubs and attachments . Later Don T

Charlie and Donald,
Don't know about "boys", but I'm NOT using a frilly canopy. I'll go with MANLY steel, get hurt when the tractor tips over. BTDT! Twice as a matter of fact, once on a Cat and once on a Cub. Both with NO ROPS.

I`am not into frilly things also. The way I have to get on my Cubs because of bad legs is to sit in the seat and throw my leg over the steering wheel. so that canopy would not work for me .Plus i`am 6' so I might hit my head . But there are a few Cub attachments that I would like to have up here. Have a great day

The surrey top definitely is a good reminder of the era our tractors were born (no offense to those of said generations) I was moreso focused on a rear mount ROPS bar like most larger tractors and equipment have, the front mount looks like a golf cart/ bulky fairway mower haha. Ken, didnt think about the search feature (brain fart as usual), my mistake. Anyhow my Frankenstein should be running today or tomorrow, if nothing else completely together and ready to go, ill post pictures when im done. Charlie, should i put em up in the not OEM but better'n new section since its not technically an OEM 149? lol

OK, I'll come out of my kitchen remodeling project (tiling the floor stage) long enough to post a few old ROPS photos from the archives. This belongs (or belonged) to Mike Andrews. Posted back in 2000.

OK it has been determined that the ROPS on the Cub Cadet sucks/doesn't work BUT I do like those bitching pants!! One "Wild and Carazy Guy". (From SNL fame)

Thats more like it! thank you Kraig, really. Tom, well said and well quoted. Just gotta fix a few wiring gremlins, and make a few new wires, oil it up, grease it up, fuel it up and hopefully fire it up!

I don't see what the big deal is here other than something to talk/write about. I live on relatively flat land and when I'm up against a hill I simply use common sense and go forward and backwards instead of attempting anything sideways. In other words, I just don't see the need for any roll over protection. We're dealing with small garden/(lawn) tractors here. If there's a need for ROPS then there might be a need for other advice as to how to get the terrain negotiated. I have areas that I HAVE to mow carefully and if I ever tilt too much to the right I have my left foot and vive versa.

Are we running out of topics? Here's a (re)starter, I use high test fuel with MMO. I don't think we've talked fuel for a few months now.
