Dennis thanks I found it with your information.
I'll reread it again, sounds like I can go in from the top to see what's going on.

I would never have thought shifter cup.

Thanks again Dennis.

Well I took a quick look and realize that I will need to split the tractor to get at the harware holding down the shifter

.
Don't mind doing it it's just the time.

James,
You don't really have to split the tractor, you can slide the trans to the back "inside" the frame.
Not much to that, knock out the roll pin in the coupling and 4 bolts going through the frame and you're good to go.

I went and looked at the 128 this morning. He bought it in 84 and in 87 he had a valve job done, a few years ago the motor worked lose and trashed the driveshaft, he had local cub store put a new one with new throw out bearing and disc, he put new tie rods on at the same time, lt year the PTO clutch died and he had cub store put a new one on. It come with a quite deck, three point and sleeve hitch. The front axel is loose, steering column is loose also motor leaks oil from either the front crank seal or the pan gasket. He wants $450 but I got him down to $350. Would this be a good deal?

Lucas... In short YES. Most of the wear items have been freshened. Assuming you can take care of the oil leak. That would be a deal.

I didn't want to do this, but I did take the head off of my K341 today.
First off I did notice that the bolts were very easy to remove. Maybe this was why there was oil weaping all over?
Second thing I noticed there was a gap between the piston, and the wall. I could see the ring inside! When I first bought this a few months ago it smoked like mad, but after a couple times running it the smoke hasn't been as noticable. Do you think I need a new piston or just leave it?
The only reason i'm doing this is because of the oil all over the fins. The motor actually ran just fine.

Other than cleaning off the carbon, what do you think shound be done? Should I just install a new gasket, and put it back together?

It has a steering wheel, pan seat, and 4 tires, just like an early CC. Might be an easy mistake to make.

But then again, chasing leads is the only way to come across a really good "barn find".

Jeff P.
If it were mine, I'd clean that carbon up really well, blow the gunk out where the piston is rather eatin away, new gasket and let'r fly!

Oh yea, all you guys down south in the heat!

We just had a guy sign up on the forum that has one of the best Personal quotes I've seen in a while.
"We get it right 'cuz we do it twice"

Thanks for the advice on the 128 I think I will let it go, my 122 needs a engine rebuild and my original needs a lot of stuff, and I don't really want another gear drive.

Will a throttle cable and lever from a 70 or 100 work on a original?

Charlie,
I'll take the 66 + another 20 and be happy. This sux.
Kraig/Ken,
This tractor is at a 100+ year old farm that's having a auction tomorrow. Who know's (But I'm betting it's something other than a CC) .?.

Tom, the engines don't set the same direction. The one you posted I think may be called a pup, mabey

CHARLIE - I agree with TOM. We had the third hottest day EVER in Madison WI yesterday, 104 deg, hottest day ever was 107. Broke 100 again today, 3rd day in a row. We've had 3/10ths of an inch of rain since Memorial Day. Even the weeds are turning brown and dying. At least there's no mosquitos. I saw on another forum just now that the large dairy farms around here are going to start chopping corn silage next week if we don't get any rain by then. Rain isn't forcast for a week except for a 20-30% chance tomorrow evening, so they're going to take whatever forage they can while they still can. Saw on the news this AM somebody in town had sparks land in their back yard from firecrackers on the 4th and burned ALL the grass up. There were/are burning bans everywhere.

Lewis P. I just noticed your serial number question in the For Sale section. When the temperature gets cooler this evening I'll have the two kids that helped mow lawns this morning read the serial number.

I had to go across town at three this afternoon and the bank's sign said 100* and the TV said Heat Index of 105*. We started mowing lawns around 8:30 this morning. Two Cub Cadets and a push mower. Mowing went fast only did it ever get HOT fast. I had the boys back their cart into the garage so that we could get it ready for the parade tomorrow morning. We took a lot of water and kool aid breaks while working. One of their parents rewarded them with taking them to the lake this afternoon. The people getting the track ready for tomorrow afternoon's truck pull have their work cut out for them. It is just plain miserable outside.
