Bernie P. About 50C decks, the belt tensioner spring doesn't really wear out, but everyone I've ever seen has broken. Same result, loss of belt tension. End that normally breaks is the end bolted to the deck housing, so buy two new springs, one to replace your's and a spare. Crazy how expensive 50C mower belts are now, look at your belt closely before spending the money on a belt. The deck belts normally last thru 2-3 mule drive belts.

One more thing on belt deck tensioner......they can rust solid and then become "fixed".....as the belt wears, it becomes loose.

Thanks!

Spring ordered! I spent most of the afternoon working on the deck. Did some welding and reinforcement. But like everything one step forward two steps back.

Cleaned and regreased the center spindle. Seems like the spindle is missing a cap. The cap that goes just under the pulley. According to parts look up this is the same cap as the one by the blade.

Figured I would work on two side spindles. Both also seem to be missing the upper cap. Am I reading the parts lookup wrong?

Also had slight issue with one spindle

Anyone try to weld these?

Those aluminum housing spindles are supposed to have a cap at either end. That one with the broken ear is junk. I would not bother trying to weld it. You'd never get it clean enough. Used ones are pretty easy to come by on ePay.

Anyone have any good photos of a model 2000 trailer's lights? Trying to get those sorted out (as well as decals) and don't know what I'm looking for.

Pretty sure what's on there isn't original, but maybe it is?

David,

I don't have any pictures, but vague, distant memories, it is a large rectangular light that fits in a "pocket" on the back rail of the trailer. I think they should match the lines of the frame, and not stick out like a standard Wesbar or Peterson style light.

Something light this:

Not this:

But I may be WAY off, it's been decades since I've seen one in person.

Scott -
Thanks! Yes, it's got something in there currently that's "recessed" into the pocket where I believe the light goes, and then in the parts manual I have, it shows a lens covering a pigtail. Here's one lens I found on a well known auction site that is the part number for the tail lens.

I think I MIGHT have the right front side marker lights, though one lens has been silicone repaired.

The late, great Myron Bounds said that this:

was the right one, but it doesn't appear that it would work in my application.

Here's what my rear looked like:
